True, but nobody buys A318's (or 737-600's) anymore because they are a simple, non-optimized shrink from the A320 and carry a lot of dead weight. The CS300 is fully optimized for this seat-range and will have lower fuel and operating costs.

Chinese leasing firm CDB to buy 30 Bombardier CSeries aircraft

Bombardier Aerospace has revealed that China's CDB Leasing is the undisclosed customer that signed a conditional purchase agreement for five CS100 and ten CS300 jetliners.(source)

I don't think that video is related to the topic... The Q400 is a propeller aircraft that carries much lower number of passengers than the C-Series.

Beyond that, I think the C Series debut in 2014 could hit a snag, as test flights lag... from Bloomberg, 30 October 2013:

Bombardier Inc. (BBD/B), the world’s third-biggest aircraft maker, risks missing a target of delivering the first unit of its new CSeries next year, after the jet was 8 1/2 months late taking off.

Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS)’s Turan Quettawala and AltaCorp Capital Inc.’s Chris Murray are among at least five analysts predicting shipments won’t start before 2015. Bombardier executives, who have repeatedly said they expect the plane to enter service about one year after its Sept. 16 first flight, may address the issue tomorrow when the company reports third-quarter results.

Bombardier is depending on the CSeries to almost double annual revenue toward decade’s end, garnering $5 billion to $8 billion to bolster sales that totaled $16.8 billion in 2012. The Montreal-based company said unspecified “issues” with suppliers stalled the first flight of the jet, which will have as many as 160 seats and be its biggest aircraft.

Al Qahtani Aviation Company Orders up to 26 Bombardier CSeries Aircraft

•Aircraft to be operated by SaudiGulf Airlines, newly launched national carrier for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia


Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Dammam-based Al Qahtani Aviation Company has signed a firm purchase agreement for 16 CS300 aircraft with options for an additional 10 CS300 jetliners. The aircraft will be operated by SaudiGulf Airlines, a newly launched national carrier from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Al Qahtani Aviation Company and SaudiGulf Airlines are both owned by Saudi Abdel Hadi Abdullah Al-Qahtani & Sons Group of Companies (Tariq Al-Qahtani & Bros.).

Based on the list price of the aircraft, the firm order for the 16 CS300 aircraft is valued at approximately $1.21 billion US. Should all 10 options be exercised, the value of the contract would increase to $1.99 billion US.

Including the order announced today, Bombardier has booked orders and commitments for 445 CSeries aircraft, which include firm orders for 198 CSeries airliners. Some 17 customers and lessees have joined the CSeries aircraft program.

Bombardier (BBDb.TO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Thursday it will delay putting its new narrowbody CSeries jet into commercial use by at least nine months, citing a longer-than-expected test phase.

The smaller CS100 aircraft's entry-into-service is now scheduled for the second half of 2015. It will be followed by the larger CS300's entry-into-service about six months later, the planemaker said in a statement.

The CSeries, which saw its inaugural flight delayed three times before taking off four months ago, was ambitiously scheduled to go into service a year later, though analysts had expected entry-into-service to be pushed back to early 2015.

It is the latest setback for the world's fourth largest planemaker's ambitious plan to dominate the growing 100- to 149-seat market, pitting itself against the smaller aircraft made by industry giants, Boeing Co (BA.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Airbus Group NV

Bombardier had previously said flight tests were going according to plan but would provide an update on the aircraft program's entry-into-service schedule early this year.

National Bank analyst Cameron Doerksen last week warned clients in a note that he expected the CSeries' entry into service could be delayed longer than expected.

"Based on a flight test program that appears to be progressing much slower than expected, we now believe it is increasingly likely that the CSeries entry-into-service date will slip into Q2 2015," wrote Doerksen, who had earlier been expecting a first-quarter 2015 debut.
