That doesn't look like an MD-11 to me... in fact, Biman has not operated any MD-11s. That is, instead, a DC-10.

Since no threads exist for the DC-10 (as far as I'm aware), I thought that this thread would be the best place to post it.

All right... I will combine all the tri-jet aircraft (MD-11, DC-10, and L-1011) under one roof for discussion, especially that many of those aircraft have been retired. Sounds good?

That reminds me...

- Boeing 727
- McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 series
- Tupolev TU-154

Can anyone else tell me any trijet models?

MD-80 is a twin.

The only one I can think of that has not been mentioned (I am omitting non-airliners and prototypes) is the HS121 Trident. Since the Yak 40/42 are just further developments of the same plane, perhaps they can be consolidated in the title.

I realized that (especially I was reminded of American Airlines operating a multitude of them, and there's no 3rd engine)... luckily, I double checked to make sure I put in all the trijets in one roof.

That too. I was researching on Wiki and other aviation threads on Trijets, and the Trident is the only one left. But, question: do you think it is a relevant aircraft today worth discussing? I mean, yes, it may be a tri-engine jet, but, I don't even know if any of that type is still operational today.

The last few Tridents were retired in the early 1990s (in China, I do believe), so there's none left flying today.

I recall that CAAC (the predecessor to Air China) operated a few of those Trident aircraft...

The Trident is particularly significant as it was the 1st three-engined airliner to fly in January 1962, over a year before the 727 (February 1963). Due to a government drive to rationalize the British aircraft industry and the resulting corporate moves and government interventions, it ended up entering service exactly 2 months after the 727 (1st February 1964 - 727/1st April 1964 - Trident).
