This sucker officially breaks ground tomorrow. Unsure as of yet if 699' is the final height, but we believe the mechanicals put it well over 700'.

Boston's Tallest Building in Nearly 40 Years to Break Ground

Quote:
We have known for more than half a year that 1 Dalton Street, the tallest part of the mega-project in the Christian Science Plaza, would stretch to 699 feet when it's finished. That is a phenomenal height by both contemporary and historical standards—contemporary because it's damned near impossible to build anything taller than 200 feet in Boston these days; and historical because no new building has soared so high since the Hancock was finished in the mid-1970s. Here it comes, though.

Cambridge-based developer Carpenter & Company will formally break ground on the 61-story spire on Wednesday at 6PM. Also in attendance will be execs from the Four Seasons as the tower shall officially be known as the Four Seasons Hotel & Private Residences One Dalton Street, with both the 211 hotel rooms and 180 condos inside eligible for the same hospitality services.

The funny thing about that headline is that Boston's tallest building in the last 40 years is already out of the ground! It just so happens that this one will be even taller than that.

By the way I posted a bunch of new pics of MT that seem to have already gotten buried onto the 2nd page. They're currently working on the unlucky 13th floor.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I read that. We're gonna have two ~200m towers going up at the simultaneously. Pretty exciting times for Boston!

Never in my lifetime did I think we'd see two towers over 200m going up at the same time. Just awesome.

That's true. But since this one will be taller the headline still holds true.

I don't think the switch is made until they start the foundation. They still have to dig the hole first. Thus, it's in "prep" phase, consistent with other buildings in this section.

Should the title of this thread be changed to "Four Seasons", and the two towers be split into their own threads? The smaller of the two is known as 30 Dalton St. Residences, while this one is at 1 Dalton St.

I'll change to Four Seasons. 30 Dalton would have to go in General Urban Developments as it's only 285 ft. tall.

If it could reach past 700' with mechanicals etc. why not just make it the cities tallest building? It doesn't need much more.

Go big or go home.

I know you're not serious, so don't take me seriously. But no, just make a nice building and it will be as tall as it will be. It will definitely add to Boston's skyline in a big way. It's a skyline changer.

I know, but if you're so close why not just pass it? It's been a while.
