I was really taken aback by how much H & M had taken up space in the GPO. Last time I was in there 2012 it was full of mostly designers and coffee shops.

Awesome, I envy your night shots, I am useless when it comes to mastering light, I just point and shoot ... I only know about 3 or 4 buttons on my camera and that's it I will be in touch with you as soon as I am ready to compose the structure of the books, I am wrapping up the research now so won't be too long Thanks again

So good to see you regularly contributing to SSC again Sydney! Don't go leaving us this time Make sure you let us know when the book is out, I'm sure plenty of us would love to buy a copy!

You seem to have such a great eye for detail and capturing interesting angles, and your shots always have such beautiful colour. Browsing your photos makes me regret not paying enough attention as I walk the streets - you capture so many things that I just don't appreciate with my own eyes the way I'm able to through your photography.

Haha thanks Sydney... Had to do a few work shops to get good at long exposures and night shot... You however have brilliant eye for detail I struggle with... If you think any pics of mine are worthy you are most welcome to them

Thank ... now I know which pics I will be using for the book so it is easier to post now without conflict ... I love looking up, the view is always so much better than at street level, especially in Swanston Street Thanks for the great welcome

To think some of those beautiful old edifices might have been at the hands of greedy developers, ripe for demolition. Horrifying. Thank goodness we have what we have, and we must fight to protect it.

Thanks for the great captures!

Ok, who can tell me the buildings not in this digitally restored video?

This film shows an idyllic picture of life in the Victorian capital of Melbourne in the mid 1960s.

From The Film Australia Collection.
Made by The Commonwealth Film Unit 1966.
Directed by Douglas White.
Episode 10 of the Life in Australia series.

This series was made to encourage immigration to Australia and to highlight the various social activities, employment and educational opportunities and lifestyles of the various cities and regional centres throughout Australia. Previously uploaded in SD it is now available in 4K HD.

Couldn't agree more if nothing else, facades must be retained and incorporated into new builds.

Yeah not too shabby but a tad too black. Can't wait to watch the show and see how they turned it back into 5 adjoining mansions.
