I hope so too! Itís great that Patrick Gorman (Perth MP) is looking into it, but so far, itís just him.

It was forecast a couple of years ago that by 2030 or 2050 well beat out Brisbane - canít remember which of the two years it was, or if it was something else

It was forecast about 5 years ago for Perth to overtake Brisbane in 2029. A lot has changed since then. Melbourne will overtake Sydney a long time before Perth overtakes Brisbane. Queensland as a state is on a different level to WA tho

A lot of mileage was made out of the population spike that came with the minerals rush. Even though it was obvious it was an anomaly.

Great! It was no different to how Jeff Kennett marketed Victoria when he took over; and they were in a hell of lot of worse position that WA is now.

It's the exact right thing for WA to do. Get out there and compete and big yourself up. No one else is going to do it for you.

Totally agree - Ive just driven basically from Sydney to Brisbane and I was rather disappointed with the north QLD coast. I had always dreamed of doing it and had high expectations of seeing where the rain forrest meets the ocean and Great Barrier Reef. While there were many wow moments IMO there is so much hype and marketing (building up) what is at times very mediocre. Our beaches and forrest down south is far superior to me. I loved the bay look of their coast and loved the 'look' of islands of the QLD coast but you can't swim in hardly any of their beaches, Cairns has mud flats on its door step, the Daintree was anti climatic for me it had no where near impressive trees that we have down south. The QLD drive is basically cane field after cane died after cane field and atm dry as. Even the Hunter Valley was dry and sparse yet $50 a bottle in an only Shiraz producing region IMO Margaret River wines are so much better and cheaper!!!

Basically we need to learn to market better and build ourselves up to because in the end we are better.......lol

Margs is by far Australia’s superior wine region from a visitor perspective. Beats Hunter, Barossa, McLaren Vale any day of the week.
