That's the end of the Dubai canal, there's already a thread for it in the project section.

It was a private island before. They had a big Chanel event there a few years back. I think its owned by the government directly or the RF.

Google Earth just updated, can see causeway to island with works on island

Looks like they extending island out to sea slightly as well as making a Marina on the canal entrance. So that should be 2 marinas at either side of the exit

I may be wrong

I don't think this one is going to be exciting.. Looks like the outline of some villas to me.

Sorry can't upload pics right now but check post 564 in the Dubai Creek extension thread, second pic, this really looks like part of the end of the creek, it's too close to be a separate project I think.

This island was there from 10 years ago but was on hold, It's not a part of this project.

I think the same. Maybe another private island for Sheikh Mo - like one of the Logo Island at Palm Jumeirah.

On Google maps they labelled it "Sheikh Hamdan Island", so private island for his son?

Had been labeled like this for years. I wonder how true this label is and was, since everybody can participate in labeling google earth. My guess is, it will be now part of the Dubai canal project. When this island was built way back ( construction started almost 10 years ago) the Dubai canal project was not yet on the table.

Nope, judging from the round breakwater mounds on the other side and the big pile of sand I'm 99% sure this is just one of the villas under construction on the tip of the Jumeirah Bay Island. Still interesting though!
