I wouldn't mind it if it wasn't in an artificial island area already. I mean, by itself, sure, why not? But it's right around Burj Al Arab AND right next to the updated Porto Dubai project, it's gonna be so busy and crowded, complete overload.

It's like the Dubai Harbour project which I think it's awesome by itself, but unfortunately also in already the busiest piece of coastline Dubai has.

And who knows what else they'll throw around La Mer, Pearl Jumeirah, etc.

The thing that also kills me is the lack of overall inspiration for the tower block. And demolishing wild wadi, a stable in the city, to make way for an above ground parking! This has as much architectural value as Walmart. Again I hope this gets forgotten or major redesign. The replacement park also looks like something thrown together.

I think that due to the weather.. dubai is trying to push all tourist destination into the sea, and have them closer to a well known spot.... tourists usually go to burj dubai and wild wadi on one day... burj khalifa and the dubai mall on another.... so they want to cram stuff into one hot spot instead of building new ones... thats what i think.... if they r going to have new hot spots its going to be the creek and jabal omar

Wild Wadi is starting to get so small and below international size. They are just amping up the game here.

The logo island is now fully joined to the mainland, and they are removing the breakwater at the back of the island, presumably so that they will then join it to the palm crescent.

I agree, this might destroy the elegance that the "isolation" of the Burj al Arab put upon it. I donīt like the new addition to the burj island too. It makes the nice traiangle island look ugly and messed up. They are simply overdoing in Dubai and this is a luxurious resort that they are massing up with. Sadly.

EDIT: This new hotel looks like a bad combiantion of the marina bay sands and the viceroy palm jumeirah. I really donīt like it.

And then people fail to acknowledge the fact that these are all place holders by the way work related to this Project has yet to commence ... whatever is happening now is unrelated to the buildings

Of all the Marina Bay Sands inspired buildings that I know of, my personal ranking of them based on exterior design would be:
1. Address Sky View, Downtown
2. Shams Gate, Abu Dhabi
3. Raffles City, Chongqing (after the cladding change)
4. Palm 360, PJ
5. One Zabeel, SZR
6. This thing
I really really hope they will redesign it

I really hope they find a different location for this project. Not so close to the Burj Al Arab.

These ground works are not, strictly speaking, those of the hotel. It is closer to the road.

Gabriel is right, the "plot" with the ground works is supposed to be occupied by beach chairs, umbrellas, palm trees and sand in the final product:

But this photo taken on 7/6/17 (by Khaled Hassan) shows they may be digging into the ground, which I don't think material/equipment storage would need?
