Huh ... still no work started on the American Museum of Natural History's Guilder Center? Weird. I thought they got approval for that to start.

I wonder if this gorgeous tower will have its silhouette ruined by having the BMU left out almost full time like 10 and 30 Hudson Yards do.

Apologies if this has been covered before. From a building science perspective, and specifically for the terra cotta elevations:

1. Is the entire system essentially face-sealed? I.E. The shear walls remain exposed, and it appears there's an entire integrated panel simply fastened in place, and the panel joints are sealed, with the glazing, spandrels, terra cotta and brass elements simply fixed to the face of the panel.

2. What do you all think of water management at these terra cotta elevations? Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, but I see thousands of scoops to redirect any driving rain in behind the terra cotta. (especially freezing rain, as the terra cotta will be very cold, fixed to the exterior as they are). There aren't any laps or drip edges, especially where the upper panel is set laterally inwards compared to the panel below it. It's basically a funnel. At the base, I see the large galvanized plates the terra cotta is supended on, but not really any flashings or other way to redistribute the water ingress. During a storm over the height of this building, it'll be niagara falls in behind the panels at the base of the elevation. Lets just say the volume of water ALSO freezes back there...
