You get used to it. I like it more than the diesel roar (which conjures up images of pollution to me). Some companies have modified it, so now the sound of engines firing up is musical.

Check out the ramp, it's concrete which makes it look like the main line will be on a slightly lower level. No idea if this is the case, but it's strange considering there was an underground passage built there, which might not be usable anymore.

Also, wonder what all those things are on your second photo from Shaul HaMelech station.

Regarding Shalom station, all I can say is meh.
Construction pace is positively glacial.

Temporary: As I said, it's concrete, so it seems pretty permanent. Maybe there will be another layer on top of it, no idea. Will try to get a better look some other time.

Shaul HaMelekh Station: not sure, but there are identical objects on Yehudit Station as well.

HaShalom Station: It does seem pretty quiet lately, but they're also working on electrification there—the poles are already installed. Maybe the contractors are bothering each other or something, no idea.

It has always been slow as hell.
Also, note the empty area near the road. I'm pretty sure that's a part of the "fast lanes" project.

Look on google earth. While most of the pictures are very unclear, you can see in the 8/31/2008 picture that this empty area on the side of the highway was there and seemingly the same size as it is now.

I was referring to the part at the bottom-right of the picture- this part looked different a few months ago.

TheMarker reports that the Red Line of the LRT will be delayed by at least 6 months because of delays in constructing the two stations in Bnei Brak. They are thinking about opening the line without these stations at first. However, the article is behind a paywall so I don't know what is actually says. Can anyone post it?

Am I the only one who thinks a six-month delay doesn't sound that bad, considering the record of most other infrastructure projects - not only here in Israel but also around the world?

I don't think it's too bad (thought I would use the Red Line to get to work, so for me it's pretty annoying). However, the article poses an interesting question: do they open the line partially, or wait till the whole thing is completed? I think it's better to open partially, as a matter of principle. However, the disadvantage is that this will likely slow down the works on the remaining section(s), and therefore unnecessarily hurt the people living/working near those stations. Considering the entire BBC area is there, it might be an issue.
