Tune Hotel; a long way to go to end up looking like the render.....

Whereas the Peter Doherty has always looked very sleek.

And to think that balcony half-way up is external to the staff lunch room.

PDI looks shit from Haymarket as those wood panels all mould together to look like a big blank wall (and hte southern facade is shit boring as well being buitl esssentially to property boundary)

anyway.

I love how Melbourne architects can sit and design a new project and then go to lunch and come back, start again as if it is all new then later they have a coffee break and then come back and start again and go home and sleep then the next day start again...so if you can end up with a building so unrelated and obtuse you have succeeded...I think ?

not much left to do with it apart from paint a couple of red stripes on it judging by the render.

Interesting that 'Lincoln House' next door would have at least blocked out the side by being the same height until recent demolition of top floors.

That is very strange, why just keep the lower levels?

Oh my god... the missed opportunities. You could make some serious money converting a structure like that into NY style loft apartments.

The core of the Cancer Centre has climbed above ground level since my last visit. I asked a couple of Grocon blokes if they'd take a shot inside for me (they were just standing around having a smoke) and they declined: "We'd get shot", they said. What is this paranoia about photos? The Peter Doherty centre has progressed to an undulating glass wall at street level.

The city looks nice and dense looking down Leicester Street, from University Square. That's the Vic apartments going up on the left, with the cranes of Fulton Lane in the background.

Would the Jasper Hotel fall under this little precinct or still the CBD? Wherever it does it is an abomination and would love to see a high rise in its place.

Cranes look great, GW. Demolition on SE corner of Swanston/Queensberry. Anyone know what's planned? Just hope it's not another ghastly boxy student thingy, like further south in Swanston.
