Scape Lincoln Square

Scape Carlton

Looks like they're installing screens over Journal Living's raw concrete.

Little Hall (directly opposite Scape Lincoln Square).

Unilodge, 123 Bouverie (with the heritage brick podium).

They've finally re-opened the streets around Lincoln Square. The southern edge has been narrowed and is now one way, from Swanston to Bouverie, with the northern edge one way in the reverse direction. The re-vamp of the park is almost complete, with new seating and grass being laid.

Melbourne Uni has just bought the large double block on the SW corner of Bouverie and Pelham. It is just one building away from the Corkman Hotel site, in Pelham.

I'm married too, but, f*ck it, I'm outta here. You've gotta follow your heart. I'm sure that's what the fortune cookie said.

Ha ha ha... you and Papps are such teasers... I am just pouring my heart out on this site for all to see, and all I get is refusals... I'll keep looking for that elusive thing called love until I find it!

Scape is really ruining the beauty of building in Melbourne.

They've only completed one i.e. Scape Swanston, so it's a little early to make such an emphatic judgement. I was thinking Scape Carlton is starting to look better than the render.

More "Delhi" air today, which rather spoilt my shot from a Carlton car park, but you can see that Scape Carlton is increasingly visible. I rarely go to Brunswick East, but driving out along Nicholson and Lygon, I was impressed by the number of medium density resi's. One by one, the original 1 and 2 level shops and warehouses are making way for 6-10 level towers. Much closer to European style density now.

Melbourne Connect was humming away.

Yes Redden.

Next time you’re out that way, you should drive up High Street, which has had an equally if not greater
Renewal Program. Scores of mid-rise which have had the perfect result in channeling new life to the entire streetscape, with steroid levels of activation. It is great to see the dowdy old run-down streetscape coming to life.

It’s a pity that Boroondara Council and some of the anti-development-at-all-costs locals here in Camberwell can’t see that such development is all that can now resuscitate the once-proud Burke Road shopping strip, which is also suffering the scourge of ‘For Lease’ signs - signs so common to strip shopping precincts almost everywhere nowadays.

This of course is more a sign that Landlords are refusing to accept the changing ‘guard’ in retail shopping, and need for mutual compromise to reduce rents, thereby keeping the tenant in business, the landlord earning income and the shopping environment ‘intact’. It’s all about commercial rents dictating the ‘perceived’ value of their asset.

I digress...

I drive along High Street about once a month, when I meet up with a workmate at the Junction hotel, so I haven't ventured further along High than that. Amazing number of eateries and new resi's.

I was looking out from the Alfred's 6th floor, when I realized that you can see Scape Carlton's cores. Amazing, for such a short building.

Scape Carlton definitely part of the skyline now - not sure yet if it is a good thing or a bad thing, time will tell

While Scape is not everyone's cup of tea, I think their projects are quite interesting additions to the skyline. The common facade style is fascinating branding. The 175m one in Franklin St will shake that area up.

Journal Living, 500 Swanston. I think the metal mesh cladding works well.

Scape Carlton

Little Hall has some glass; it's looking great, with a nice combination of glass and metal louvres.

Scape Lincoln Square continues to develop.
