Expo Metro Line

Modern Light Rail Connecting Los Angeles and Culver City

The Exposition Light Rail line will share common track and two stations (7th St./Metro Center and Pico) with the Metro Blue Line as it leaves downtown Los Angeles.

The Exposition Light Rail line will be approximately 9 miles in length. It parallels the heavily congested I-10 Freeway, and is scheduled to open in June 2010.

Approximately eight new stations will be constructed between downtown Los Angeles and Culver City, with an estimated travel time of 27 minutes.

The estimated cost of the project to Culver City is $640 million. A future second phase would extend the Exposition line to the City of Santa Monica.

According to the MTA groundbreaking is in 2006 no specific date. Completion for the project is in 2010 (Venice/Washington). Well we know it's going to start sometime between today and Dec. 31, woohoo!!!!

I actually look forward to The Expo Line, I really can't explain it. As far as my vacation I'm having a blast. It's just too bad we don't have a pool like everyone else here.... .

They're working on re-painting the Blue Line fleet, they're going to be very silverish and stand out from the rest of the fleet.

The 3 cars they have painted were the 3 cars sporting the old Red Car livery. As far as I know those are the only ones that have been done so far.

Hey I just thought about this, Since both Expo & Blue will share Stations on Flower and 7th St (Underground Station). Are they going to change the BlueLine Trains to match Gold, Expo fleets???? The reason I ask is because the Blue Line are boxy and not very attractive. Say they just had a fresh coat of paint instead of that plain faded Orange and black strip. They would definite make a difference!!!!!

Well I don't know about the dull gray color. I like the way the Dash buses were painted. It looks clean, fresh and most importantly inviting. So are all Rail lines getting the same dull gray paint job. A brighter silver color would of made a world of difference......

Although I agree it is kinda dull, it works along with Metro's new simplistic approach to coloring in their advertisements and on the livery.

That, and anything is better than white with a yellow stripe.

I think it's better to have them paint the trains according to the line color they serve. It's looks much more like a serious, functional rapid transit system like this than the generic white with orange stripe.

I actually read somewhere that all lines are getting the same coat of paint. Something to do with it being more easier to switch service line. Can someone confirm if this is in fact correct???

I've never heard of such a thing. That means that a city like NYC with a huge system would have to paint every car on every line that same unique color and these cars couldn't even be interchangeable to other lines (in case of breakdowns and such)since they already have a permanent color. Sounds artistic but not practical or functional.
