Okay, this makes me very happy! Finally goods news from New York, cannot wait to see the changes they'll make. I sure hope they'll be minor, because Foster's tower was just so elegant and will look so graceful in the skyline without any changes.
I hope they'll reconsider the gradient switch from black to dark blue and light blue glass at the very top, they proposed at the very beginning.

They'll look so beautiful together with the 1WTC. I ship this couple. Cheers!

agreed, that would be nice. I would be satisfied with either though.

^ I agree, this view is what actually matters!

what was the problem with the Foster design?
It is much better then the BIG design that is seen in similar style all around the world

The only problem I have with this is probably that it NEEDS to have a height boost

Also does Silverstein know that we still need to build 5 WTC and don’t get me started on 6 WTC. We can’t have a 7 WTC without a 5 and 6 WTC

too short. too raw. needs refining. It has to be around 600 meters.

Damn shame, ingles is a far better architect today than Foster is. Ingles deserved to have his audacious design built. The old foster dinosaur is a typical banker tower with a mawkish crown, while Ingles actually tried something with his segmented dynamic form that NY lacks.

I am so surprised you think the Ingels tower is an example of progressive design. Rectilinear boxes are boring unless there's 10 of them? Setbacks are boring unless they're upside down?

I knew you'd boo the beautiful Foster diamonds either way but still.

As a single tower yes. But not next to 1WTC, that would look stupid.

Actually no, not here. If you pay attention to the complex each next tower is smaller than the previous. That kind of concept works great in Lower Manhattan in my opinion.

If the city decides to consider a tower of 600m at some point, I think the rights for such tower should be allowed for a site somewhere in Midtown, or Hudson Yards.
Largely because the silhouettes of those parts of Manhattan would accept a possible megatall much more gracefully. Especially Midtown.

Those gaps on each side have to stay though, because they create twelve corner offices on each floor instead of the normal four. Americans love corner offices.

For my taste the diamond would look nicer though if it was somehow symmetrical.

Id like the top diamond to be completely filled in with facade.

I actually appreciate the asymmetry, it grabs the attention in a subtle way, the asymmetry itself is subtle.

About the diamond being completely filled, I am not sure, I mean we understand that's not a problem for them to cover that small of an area, but I think they kept the corner for an outdoor observation of some sorts.

Anyhow, I'd like for the mechanical floors to be somewhere at the foreground, similar to the 3rd WTC in order for the diamond to appear sleeker.

I love how even though 1WTC is the pinnacle of the complex, Foster's 2WTC feels like the centerpiece. 1WTC is quiet respect for the past, this tower is optimism for the future.

Hope they keep the diamonds exactly as they are!

Been waiting for this for what, close to 15 years? I will watch with baited breath - they could still value engineer the thing to hell and back.
