Apart from that, Cotton Bowl stadium is significantly smaller than At&T dome. It states 92k capacity because it has bleachers all around and a lot of people may squeeze in, but if they install the single seats according to modern seating space standards, as in At&T, it becomes 60+k stadium at best!

Simmilar case: Rose Bowl and LA Coliseum, given seating capacities are in no relation to the real size of these two stadiums.
Sure, the stadium itself is smaller than AT&T, but there is more permanent seating in the Cotton Bowl. Yes, it's bleachers, but it's a college stadium and not geared toward the NFL crowd. AT&T can expand with standing room tickets to 100,000, but that's a rarity.

From 1968 until renovations about 10 years ago, the Cotton Bowl had individual seats. Back before the upper decks were extended, it had a capacity of about 71,000 with individual seats. So, if they went back in that direction, and made the seats in the upper deck individual seats, as well, you'd probably be talking on the order of 84,000 or something like that.

The problem is that the Cotton Bowl terracing is not deep enough for it to be comfortable with individual seats--you have zero leg room. That's why they ripped them out, and there's really no way to fix that.

However, they don't need to have plush seating, or luxury boxes, to keep the game in Fair Park. Without the State Fair as a backdrop, the game just doesn't have the same appeal.

I like the Cotton Bowl and the bench seats. Has that old school football feel in a world where everyone is going plush and modern.

This is a shot of the final day of the four-day Texas high school football championships, back in mid-December. The three games on that Saturday drew 47,818.

How many times a year do they open the roof? I feel like I never see a game with the roof open
