Shreyas you are doing a wonderful job on Baroda Post.

By the way, most of the new resident construction in Baroda is for apartments. I remember the times when people where too excited living in appt, due to lack of water, electric supply and elevators. I guess things are changing

thanx guys..but in reality..i havent seen baroda since 4 years..but my uncle is builder..so that's why i m gettin upto date info about my city..n its projects..

currently, land prizes in vadodara is increasing at two fold pace..so more n more ppl prefer to have n apartment in the building than house...

if u guys have any pics or info..i m welcoming u to post it here n make its link alive...

VMC to adopt Thames theme to make Vishwamitri cleaner

Officials to visit London for an on-the-spot study of initiatives taken by CLGF for cleansing Thames

Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has initiated correspondence with the London-based Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) to lend technical assistance to the Vishwamitri Project. The officials involved in the Vishwamitri project will visit London to take a look at the Thames and study the initiatives taken by the local government body for the river and implement the same back home.

It was in February during an official tour of Colombo that VMC Mayor Bal Krishna Shukla met the CLGF officials and explained to them the details of the Vishwamitri clean-up project. Earlier too, the VMC had collaborated with Birmingham under the Good Practice Scheme (GPS) for Waste Disposal Management under the CLGF.

According to senior officials at VMC, the CLGF scheme is an idea-cum-technology exchange between the two local self-governance bodies. While the earlier scheme technology transfer was carried out free of cost, this time around, the VMC will have to pay a certain amount as membership fee.

“I met the officials from CLGF and discussed the Vishwamitri project with them. Seeing their interest in our project and future plans we decided to avail their technical guidance. We will send a team of officials to study the measures taken by them for Thames and find out whether the same technology and concepts can be applied to Vishwamitri. Similarly, their team would come to Vadodara and study the measure taken by VMC as a part of the Vishwamitri project,” said the VMC Mayor.

When asked about the funding for the scheme, Shukla said, “Though the UK Department for International Development has decided to fund the CLGF so as to take the GPS forward, we already have sufficient financial back up from the state government. However, the first thing we would look into is the exchange of ideas and technology.”................
