I have been waiting for some pics or highlights, awesome showing from Baltimore, much much better than Dallas. I'm looking forward to Chicago, the final will be awesome.

Wasn't it mentioned that 25,000 had been sold before they knew that the match up would be USA - El Salvador? Not a criticism of Baltimore or the attendance, but M&T Bank was blue as can be. The El Salvadorans did their bit, but its hard to make a case for this being a good USMNT stadium in the future.

There were still 81,000 people at the Dallas game. Can't praise Baltimore and criticize Dallas. They both relied on non-US support for those figures.

No doubt there was more El Salvador fans than USA fans, but a lot of the blue was also from the Honduras fans that sport the same colors. It was sold out days in advance so USA fans weren't able to buy walk-up tickets or tickets beyond Thursday.

It may be tough for Baltimore to ever be a huge home field advantage for the USA because of the hispanic population in the region, but once again the stadium has proven to be a great and successful venue for soccer.

I recall back in 1993 when Baltimore was in the running to get an NFL expansion team (which ultimately Charlotte and Jacksonville won out), they released sketches of the proposed stadium for the Baltimore Bombers.

It was in the exact same site as M&T is today (as the funding that was earmarked for the failed expansion team stadium was ultimately used when the Ravens came to town), but it looked different. It had a wavy, curved upper deck (much like the Panthers' stadium in Charlotte or the Broncos stadium in Denver) and didn't feature the heavy brick exterior that M&T has, but rather more of a modern white block and glass look to it.

I've been scouring the internets to try and find this rendering but to no avail.

Still looks good to be 20 years old. Maybe some minimal upgrades to keep it modern, but it's still pretty nice.

This is an awesome stadium and I love that they keep trying to make it better. The stadium is near some great neighborhoods, but there is also a lot of redevelopment underway near the stadium.

Are those their renovation ideas or yours? Either way they look good! I like the boards you have in the corners like the bucs have!

Baltimore Ravens Unveil M&T Bank Stadium Renovations

Some of the renderings appear in this article and at the bottom it says "Renderings courtesy Baltimore Ravens."

I think the renderings are official.

Yep, official Ravens renderings.

From the Ravens Press Release:

Quote:
PHASE ONE

Construction has already begun on the first phase of improvements, which are estimated to cost $32 million and will be fully funded by the Ravens. The following enhancements will be completed by the start of the 2017 NFL season:

Video Displays: Two dramatic, 4K ultra-high definition video displays, which will double the width of the stadium’s current standard HD boards, will remain positioned behind each end zone below the upper level. These new boards, measuring approximately 200 feet wide and 36 feet high, will equal the highest resolution and clearest picture of any stadium video display in the United States.

To fully enhance the in-stadium video production, the Ravens will also expand the audio/video control room and install 4K cameras, lenses and control equipment. The Ravens have invested in 11 manned cameras and additional robotic cameras, which will provide fans with more angles of live action, statistics and replays than ever before.

Another improvement will be the addition of new LED ribbon displays, which will be installed around the seating bowl’s suite level. In total, the Ravens will be installing more than 28,000 square feet of video displays.

“The size and resolution of the new video boards will display breathtaking images, and the new 4K cameras, lenses, replay and graphics systems will enable us to cover the game like never before,” Ravens director of broadcasting and gameday productions Jay O’Brien stated. “We are excited for fans to see our re-imagined RavensVision production in 2017.”

PHASES TWO & THREE

The Ravens and the MSA will continue to discuss additional stadium improvements for the second and third phases, of which construction will begin following the 2017 and 2018 NFL seasons, respectively. These improvements will include the following enhancements:

Escalators and Elevators: Escalators and elevators to the 500 level will be installed to improve crowd flow and ensure convenience for fans accessing seats in the stadium’s upper level.

“Corner Notch” Suites & Video Boards: New suites will be built into each open notch of the stadium’s upper bowl. Large 4K ultra-high definition video boards, measuring approximately 33 feet wide and 44 feet high, will also be installed atop each of the four suites, providing fans with additional in-game content, NFL highlights/scores, statistics and fantasy information.

Club Level: All concession stands, restrooms and bar/lounge areas on the stadium’s club level will receive upgrades. These developments will enhance the area’s general design/comfort, audio/video capabilities, quality of service and food options.

Improved Kitchen Facilities: The stadium will undergo kitchen renovations and have an additional kitchen built, improving the quality of food and providing more options at concession stands throughout the entire venue.

Sound System: A new sound system in the seating bowl will be installed.

If there is one improvement I'd love to see, which I don't think will happen, would be to install a roofing type structure so that the stadium could be modified down with curtains for a smaller seating arrangement for Soccer (hopefully MLS one day) and other smaller events. We will see this in Atlanta, and it was proposed in St. Louis.

The new video boards that are about double the size of the former. They are impressive. The new suites will go in at the notch between the sideline upper deck and end zone upper deck.

Ravens Walk before the game. That's Oriole Park at Camden Yards in the background.

Work begins one of the two new escalators, two of the four new suites, and two of the four new video boards that will provide stats from around the league.

The entire project, that started last year, is $144 million and funded mostly by the Ravens.

Where the escalator is going.

One of the new suites will go in this upper deck "notch" between the two decks.
