When the sun shines, so does Manchester. Shame it doesn't happen more! -

The skyline of Lyon, France also feels slightly North American to me (but just the skyline, not the whole cityscape!).

It does have a slightly North American vibe to it but for me it is slightly.......unexciting. In the same way that many US cities are. It lacks the drama of the best European skylines (London with its multiple clusters and sense of chaos, Paris which seems to ooze style and Moscow with it's insane and very tall main cluster). And it clearly lacks the drama of the best US skylines too. So it is perfectly pleasant and in Euopean terms it is pretty good but for me it has the feel of a good mid-western US city. Neat and tidy but in need of some pizzazz.

Frankfurt reminds me of a mix of Philadelphia and Minneapolis.

Arguably Europe's first skyscraper, Tour Montparnasse still looks pretty good.
