Icon signage up, as we wait for a start on the Marriott/Docklands Residences.

Are ICON still up for it after their Sydney debacle?

Remind me never to enter this Marriott or any other ICON. What a disgrace. And this might only be the thin edge of the wedge, how long are these building supposed to last? The damn thing was only just completed, me thinks the whole shit box will have to come down. Oh and by the way, who in their right mind would EVER believe anything you read in that liberal murdoch rag called the herald sun?

Not too many, judging by the last state election. Since then the HS letter writers endlessly remind people why they didn't vote for the Libs but I detect a change on the editorial side: their Christmas Eve leader was headed 'Our state continues to be world-class'. Considering that only five weeks earlier it was a hotbed of crime and corruption, Dan and friends have certainly done a good job!

The new carpark access ramp, which wraps around the exterior, is partially open, whilst work continues on The Market. No obvious change with the Woodwork office project, though they have opened up the wall at the back. It took until mid-afternoon before the smoke from the Tassie fires cleared enough for the sun to emerge.

Were these car parks built with strong enough foundations to support apartments above ? Seems a waste of good space...Maybe one level for a high level park would be a good solution plus give locals more recreational space for grass, tennis and basketball courts etc.

Or just turn the top level into a park. There's a wrap of apartments being built along the Market Lane frontage of the car park opposite Woodwork. That's what one of the new cores is for.

I used both banks of lifts when I took the pics and I doubt if they'll have to be moved, particularly as they're adjacent to stairs.
