Interesting to see that the University backs some of the new blocks. No doubt upset the likes of Clever Student Lets - although they are very big & could perhaps also get in on the big blocks. Smaller landlords will suffer, but that should potentially free up these for private or rented family homes. It would also mean that those others could be built, although to begin with the Uni was against the towers. The Beckley reviews are rather good...much better than a damp, mouldy old place I would say. ...But more expensive.

Some Universities (not Plymouth) I was told have found themselves in financial difficulty. They have overspent & student numbers have gone down. Due to that 18 age group 'lull' they suggest it will start to go up again by 2021.

I think we knew this anyway. Just made me think of the prime spot where Poundworld was and I think Evans. Fill them & the City Centre will be quite tidy!

Looks unlikely that'll be ready for September. Did they build a new structure behind the facade or did they just refurbish the existing floors?

Massive job this, they pretty much took the whole of the middle of the building out

That'll never be ready for Sept!! I imagine it'll be well into next year before the fitout is complete.

The Herald fb page is tracking "The Messenger's" arrival into the city centre this morning. I saw one brilliant Janner comment on one article this morning on the herald fb group, something along the lines that it won't take long before someone will probably steal the statue to sell for scrap. Yes mate, I mean no one going to notice someone making away with a huge sculpture through the streets of Plymouth. In fact most of the comments on that article this morning are pure Herald FB page Gold, as expected.

No way for this sept. Hoping Argos might move out - their logo looks tacky on the building.

As for bianca. Plymouth is so dense, probably if it would towed away by a Vauxhall Astra, no one would notice

I don't think we have the luxury in this retail climate to be picky about what retailers we have. I'm liking that render with the rooftop garden. Not sure about those three stumps rising from the roof though.

I didn't realise how relatively big national news this was.

Right up on the most viewed/watched articles on the BBC and Guardian.

Looks like they’ve changed the final finish to this slightly, the roof area wasn’t like that before.

I really do hope that it doesn’t get messed up though, you can just see people graffitiing it or sticking stickers to it, there has to be something in place to stop that happen I’m hoping.

Great pictures of Derrys (Plymouth Cross?). Really looks smart. That's not Messengers best side!
I did see it today....I thought shall I go? But it was epic I was told by T R it would arrive at 11.30. I went along the 'Boulevard' to Millbay and waited. Eventually the police outriders came & cars. It started to move from near the ferry along the ferryport & through Millbay. (Kings Transport of Bristol). At walking pace, a large group incl. Herald, Radio & TV, followed it around the very tight roundabout & up past The Duke of Cornwall. At the sharp bend near the New Continental Hotel it just about grounded. Up through Union Street (left side) up Royal Parade, around St Andrews Cross and back down. I have pics. Maybe put them on with Derry's. Millbay (Abbeyfield flats) & D C Leisure...

I wondered what route it would take, I sold Jayne thought past the red school down Martin St would. Have been Best but perhaps the octagon roundabout would be too tight
