The name 'Al Burj' is too similar to 'Burj Dubai' for my taste, was that deliberate?

Well Burj in Arabic means Tower...... so we have the Arabian Tower (Burj Al Arab), the Burj Dubai (Dubai Tower) and Al Burj - The Tower. Interesting, but a little confusing......... In Malaysia they use Menara for everything, which means Tower aswell.... just for comparison.

Something very, very, very interesting to note is in the video....... at precisely 1min and 39 seconds, u see this guy pointing out some stuff on a map..... note that the creek has been extended ALL the way from Ras Al Khor to Palm Jebel Ali!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It even branches off into 3 or 4 more parts and cuts the Jebel Ali area into 4 or 5 mian chunks.

Check it out..... looks like the Creek will be taking many more twists and turns b4 its route becomes part of history!

possibly........... I mean they will have ALOT of sand on their hands if all that dredging is done........ the so called "canal" will actually be part of Dubai Creek....... If true, this would make the new Creek and all its tributaries close to 100km in length!!!!!

I cant seem to get a screen shot at precisely 1min and 39 seconds....... can u? Then we can show this to everyone.

Face81, I think that is just one of the many proposals for the the Arabian Canal, and the final plan is the one they have at the end of the video which is very different from the one you pointed out and only extends up to the closer edge of Dubai Marina.

that would be the literal translation....... I thought that by translating it that way into English, it would make the same seem a little odd.... The best english translation would have to be Arabian Tower.

Dunno if that is one of the many proposals or a glimpse of things yet to come!

Salaamz,

This project is amazing, Nakheel has pulled out all the stops, Dubai Waterfront looks so much better planned than the Palm Deira, it looks like they rushed Palm Deira...

Some images from the video...

the answer to ur question is........ NONE! heh heh.

So our Downtowns, in order of creation are:

1) Downtown Deira (The first)

2) Sheikh Zayed Road (Trade Centre R/A to the Burj Dubai + Business Bay)

3) New Dubai (Dubai Marina + Jumeirah Lake Towers)

4) Jebel Ali ( Dubai Waterfront)

woah!!!!!!!

most breathtaking city in the world

Dubai will be the most advanced, beatifull and diverse city in the world in a few years....
There are so many developments that you can't compare dubai to any other city.

To list only some of Dubai's Projects...

Dubai Waterfront
Palm Jebel Ali
Palm Jumeirah
Palm Deira
The World
Dubai Marina (incl. JLT)
Jebel Ali Airport City
Burj Dubai (incl. Dubai Mall)
Buiseness Bay
Dubailand
Jumeirah Horizon
Dubai Mountain City
DIFC
Dubai Pearl
International City
Festival City
Jumeirah Islands
Arabian Ranches
Media City
Internet City
Maritime City
Healthcare City
Dubai Silicon Oasis
(stopping now, because listing every single Project would blow this Thread away)

There are not even a handful of city's in the whole world who have only half of the visions dubai has. Dubai is not only thinking of the future, it is the future itself...

no comment on Dubai Waterfront, because it's not comparable to anything anywhere anytime before.

Have you heard any rumours about these other projects? Maybe some of the text is readable.
