Who's saying you can have a city without power?! Who's saying you shouldn't know what's in the area when you buy?

I understand , that once upon a time, Jebel Ali was far from the Dubai's residents. The original location seemed good. "Times-a-change". In residential areas, power stations/too many lines look like crap. There's no denying it. What's more, this SHOULD be a concern of the city's overall development. Of course, it may be that most people don't care. As housing options grow, this may change. Just my two cents/fils.

see if the new resdients get any power ?
I mean, do they >
What can they do as group oust the goverment? Unlikely ?
Will they Move or just deal with the property values if they go when the powerstation expands ?
Maybe in the long run Dubai will just buy power of other emirates once its on the gird and let them build the power plants

High resolution photo

Here is a high resolution photo which you can print and keep for reference. Maybe I will try to put up some DVD captures from the project video.

DO you guys know of any DVD capturing application?

markmywords,

Great pictures, thanks for posting them...

The simplest thing to use for dvd conversion is Dr Divx, download the trial version from here:- http://www.divx.com/divx/drdivx/download/

Then just right click on your vob files to convert the whole thing to DIVX, it takes a couple of hours to convert a dvd depending on the speed of your PC

If you need to edit/chop bits out you can use something like virtualdub from here:-
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/v...1.zip?download
Choose "direct stream copy" under the video menu when saving a segmented avi...

Mail me if you need help...

but ususally planes come from the sea (where they are still very high) then fly over the shoreline more inland then turn 180 degrees and land in sea direction.
If i am not wrong that is how it has to happen in D Intl Airport, as the landing approach on runways has to be from inner country and not from sea side.
If it will be the same in JA Airport we don't have to worry that much...

actually it depends on the winds in which direction planes have to start and land!

but noise won't be a problem at all! the aircrafts nowadays are very quiet and they will still be high enough in the air above palm jebel ali & the waterfront before landing

Nope that's wrong, planes still fly in from the sea over Deira to land in Dubai Intl Airport

Huh! Why would they? It would be more expensive and power decreases in long distances.

Yes they fly over deira, but they are very high still, as they fly over the airport, then turn 180 degrees and the landing approach happens with nose in sea direction.
So when this will be the same in Jebel Ali , we do not have to worry about the palm or aj burj, as the planes are very high in this area, and then fly lose height when they are already more in land!

Yes, they do what you said, but they also fly straight into the airport from the Gulf, flying low overhead Deira

But they are not that low over deira (or palm jebel ali/ the waterfront)
as they would have been when landing directly from the gulf.
So it is not that dangerous with al Burj and not that loud for the residents...!

I have been in Deira a few times when a plane has flown over on its way to land and it is fairly loud as they are coming in straight from the sea, landing with the nose facing towards the inner desert and NOT the Gulf. Mirdiff, on the other side of the airport out into the desert has the same problem
