Are these buildings around La Défense heritage listed? They should be.

They are not close to La Défense at all, it's more than 20 km away, on the opposite side of Paris. And they are not protected, no, in fact there were thoughts about destroying the Espaces d'Abraxas because the place is in a poor state... But instead the city choose to renovate it, and assigned Bofill to design new buildings around to "finish" his work. They will be much less impressive though because the Espaces d'Abraxas were meant to be the masterpiece of the district.

This is the project :

And a render :

They should be protected ASAP, there are no other buildings like them anywhere else.

This architecture is not well recognized yet, but I'm pretty confident it will be in a near future, people are starting to realize the uniqueness of it. And actually, even though it received a lot of criticism, people who live here really like their buildings, they were the ones who contested the demolition. Also, I believe that they would need the agreement of the architect to destroy them so, even if Bofill recognized it was a bit of a failure on a social point of view, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't let that happened.

a helicopter crash landed on the roof of 787 7th Avenue today. The only casualty was the pilot and the tower appears to have only suffered superficial damage on the roof.

X+living, a design firm from Suzhou has just built a new swimming pool club.

Is it time for neo-pomo?

I've noticed the motif of pastel pink + rounded arches is quite common these days.

Like in the new Calile Hotel in Brisbane

Intro by Wiki:
Postmodern architecture began as an international style the first examples of which are generally cited as being from the 1950s, but did not become a movement until the late 1970s and continues to influence present-day architecture. Postmodernity in architecture is said to be heralded by the return of "wit, ornament and reference" to architecture in response to the formalism of the International Style of modernism.

The functional and formalized shapes and spaces of the modernist style are replaced by diverse aesthetics: styles collide, form is adopted for its own sake, and new ways of viewing familiar styles and space abound. Perhaps most obviously, architects rediscovered the expressive and symbolic value of architectural elements and forms that had evolved through centuries of building which had been abandoned by the modern style.

Btw, for classy neotraditional architecture, we have this thread:
New Buildings Built in Traditional Architecture Style

Have fun!

Surprisingly, a little googling yielded a couple of fine specimen from hinterland Cameroon worth posting here:

This is a new project that was recently announced in Guatemala City. It gave me some sort of 70s-80s postmodern vibes

I wonder if Saxophone House could be categorically further subdivided into the Memphis Style given the whimsical shapes. My own in-joke is that Memphis is to Post Modernism as Baroque is to Renaisance.
