We have a bi-weekly train and one weekly train (coming from Chennai). However, those are having odd timings and take a very long time to reach Vasco.

Rani Chennamma express has a slip coach service to Vasco overnight which means technically there is one overnight service from Bengaluru. But very few people know this.

It would be better if a superfast, day train is run. That would be an instant hit, knowing very well that traffic between Bengaluru and Hubballi/Dharawada is very high and all the trains run full anytime.

How to book Rani Chennamma slip coach, is it just search train to Vasco?

Day train is not useful. Bangalore is mostly salaried people, who want to travel overnight.

Sorry. looks like it is now discontinued. However, one overnight link express between Hubballi and Vasco is available - leaves Hubballi at 23.30 and arrives at a convenient 6.30 am next day. However, it is tooooo slow @33 kmph.
UBL VSG LINK EXP
Dep UBL 23:30
Arr VSG 06:30
Journey hours 07:00
Days of operation Y Y Y Y Y Y Y
Accommodation- 3A SL

If you catch Siddaganga express at SBC at 1 pm, it reaches Hubballi at 21.20.

On 4 days a week, you have Sampark Kranti exp which leave YPR at 21.55 and reaches UBL at 21.40 (best choice).

You have to lay over there for 2 hours in both the cases, but looks very convenient.

SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Press Release No. 177 Dt. 22.08.2019

RAILWAYS TO CONDUCT FINAL LOCATION SURVEY FOR DHARWAD-KITTUR-BELAGAVI NEW RAILWAY LINE

As the present Dharwad-Belagavi railway line passes through Londa, it takes more time to travel by rail than by road. It has been a long-standing demand of public and elected representatives of Karnataka to lay a direct line between Dharwad and Belagavi preferably via Kittur. To implement this work, the Final Location Survey for Dharwad-Kittur-Belagavi (90Km) is now included in the Budget 2019-20. Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways was instrumental in getting the work approved, in order to fulfil the public demand. Now Survey for Final Location for the proposed new railway line alignment has been sanctioned. In a review meeting held recently o*n 01.08.2019 in which Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways decided that the work shall be taken up immediately. Final Location Survey is assigned to Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE) which can quickly complete the survey with State Government support. The survey will start after work is awarded and agency is fixed.

Hon'ble MoSR has indicated that the progress of the survey work will be reviewed every fortnight and whole work shall be completed in 2 months.

The proposed new railway line passes through Dharwad, Kittur and Hirebagewadi to reach Belagavi. The distance between Belagavi and Dharwad will reduce by 31 Kms o*nce this new line is laid. This will benefit the public of Dharwad and Belagavi, making journey between these two smart cities easier and quicker. It will also enable the people of Belagavi to reach Bengaluru, the capital city of State of Karnataka directly.

The distance can be further reduced if the track bifurcates towards Dharwad from south side of Belagavi
also there is plain tract of land and from Dharwad towards Belagavi the gradients will also be of lower height

Best news on Krishna Janmashthami day. This line is going to be a game changer, in my opinion. We have 2 good railway savvy MPs- Angadi and Pratap Simha with us for Karnataka and hence should hope to extract the maximum during this 2019-2024 period

Infact it will reduce 50 KM as per today's TNIE report as the line will bifurcate from Mazgaon (Vadgoan) area besides Belagavi is on Heights so as per new route planned it will have lesser gradients from Dharwad side towards Hirebagawadi , KK Koppa and Yallur till Belagavi

Good saving of time
Good saving of cost
Less carbon footprints due to reduced emission from trucks on NH 4
Reduce burden on NH 4
Good Rural/Urban connect
Boost Kittur tourism
