Abbotts Lane | Residential | 4/5/7/8/17/18/19/22fl | Up to 73m | Prop.

An outline planning application has been submitted to Coventry City Council to build more than 700 apartments on land at Abbotts Lane.

CDP acquired the 5.5 acre site from National Grid in 2017, and has been working with West Midlands Combined Authority and Coventry City Council on the project which will regenerate the brownfield site that has been vacant since 2012.

The £100 million scheme will create a new residential area in a highly sustainable location, providing quality accommodation to rent and buy.

The development includes a central landscape water feature following the route of the culverted Radford Brook providing a linear park through the site. Central facilities will be located alongside the ‘park’.

Planning application: http://planning.coventry.gov.uk/port...et?PKID=804922

As it's an outline application, it's a little light on visuals:

£100 million doesn’t seem enough for a scheme of this scale.

I used to work on this very site ages and ages ago when it was owned by British Gas. Would frequently get stuck at the lights by the level crossing

Great news for Coventry. Just outside the ring road. I'm a big fan of still building high density once you get outside the ring road. If this goes ahead and the Court Collaboration site too, Coventry will be a busy old place.

It looks good and a nice layout. It looks like the 'high street' aspect follows the stream to the ring road. What a shame the ringroad is there, as these buildings would look good straddling a surface level boulevard.

The D&A statement shows how they looked at different layouts based on the city's urban street patterns or a north-south layout.

This gap is where the underpass to the city centre will go.
