Iím surprised that Sheffield tops the list for those living in the centre - over 40,000.

If you scroll down to the horizontal bar chart it shows Sheffield has the highest city centre population, more than any of the other major cities besides London. Didn't realise it was so high!

Yes, me too. To be fair, that’s the main reason I posted it. That said, the general drive for inner city living was interesting.

This seems......dubious, at least in terms of what you might traditionally call city-centre apartments. Sheffield has a higher city-centre population that Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, etc?

The generous 0.8 mile radius (assuming Sheffield meets the 550,000 population minimum for that) applied to Sheffield picks up the inner fringes of inner-city areas (but not 'city centre') such as Sharrow, Netherthorpe, Pitsmoor, Broomhall etc. I think in some of those larger industrial cities you'd find such areas filled with inner-city industry rather than traditional residential. In Sheffield such areas are focused mainly on the two don valleys only.

Something seems odd here. Surely Manchester, Leeds, etc. have many more city centre flats than Sheffield. Are they all empty, and Sheffield's all full?

Baker Mallett to open a new office in Sheffield. This following the news earlier in the year that Shoosmiths are to open an office here hopefully signals an increase in interest in the market and the start of a helpful trend.

Good news. Another tenant to leave Fountain Precinct though and another to be announced soon. The block really needs an overhaul to become attractive again.
