I think this might be Chatham Waters:

Seen from Upnor Castle:

Some other developments just across the Upnor. Does anyone has a link to what it is?

Walking along the Medway, there is still so much wastelands which could be redeveloped...

Well done geogregor. These are the sort of posts this forum could do with more of. It's not a part of the country I know much about but there appears to be a lot going on. Good stuff.

Hmmmn…. Rochester? Isn't that where Kelly Brook was from? Hmmmn...

Yes, there is fair amount of construction going on along the Medway.

I knew about the Rochester Riverside (saw it from a train a few times) but some of the other developments are a bit of surprise to me.

There are also redoing waterfront around Strood station and there is post-demolition plot south of Rochester bridge. It looks like preparation of plots for further developments.

All in all one could fit thousands of new flats in Rochester, Strood and Chatham. Given good links to London it is a no-brainer.

I was surprised with the amount already under construction in Rochester as it is mainly obscured by the railway line as you drive through town.

As with everything in Medway though (and similar towns around the country) little or no thought is being put into infrastructure, especially roads in this case. I know there are multi-story car parks at the station, but you still have to get in and out with cars regardless whether you commute up by train during the week or not.

Yes, it will be a problem. A lot of those new developments are quite a distance from station (especially those on St Mary's Island). So people will drive to the railway stations. Walking around I noticed how windy the areas are. It's nice in the summer but I suspect in winter everyone drives everywhere.

Some shots of Rochester Riverside from Chatham (at least this one is super close to the station):

Firstly, thank you for the excellent detailed photos geogregor.

Secondly, Rochester makes me think of Kelly Brook.

Great images, it seems this is the X1 development (creative name). Quite a classy development if it is finished like shown on the renders compared to some of the other stuff going up along the Medway.

Think at 16 storeys, this will be one of the taller buildings going up along here too.

X1 MARKS CHATHAM WATERS MILESTONE

Quote:

Property developer X1 has topped out at its Chatham Waters scheme, which comprises 199 luxury apartments

The project forms part of Peel L&P’s regeneration of the waterfront of the historic Chatham Docks in Kent.

Melissa Green, operations and regional director at X1, said: "X1 Chatham Waters will bring modern quayside living in a truly unique location and will offer our residents an opportunity to be a part of a real community.

"The topping out ceremony celebrates a key milestone within the build and we are looking forward to launching these high specification apartments to the market and delivering one of the first residential developments with our partner."
