Maybe I should put myself forward as needing to be heritage listed!

I’d like to consider that Heritage Victoria might agree
that I too deserve to be covered by a heritage
overlay (shroud?), which could in turn provide me
with some type of cryogenic protection to preserve
me as a worthwhile example of the human race
(here comes the ’me too’ brigade...).

I think not. But they are sufficing to guarantee their
own self existence by classifying everything in sight
that’s more than 20 or so years old. Maybe
justification indeed for the creation of a new CBD at Fishermen’s Bend where the overshadowing of old industrial establishments (HWT, Holden’s, Kraft and the old GAF) may well be permitted...

Unfortunately none of this crap - out of control and unjustified heritage protection, ridiculous overshadowing rules, chopped towers etc. - will change until there’s a change of government and/ or planning minister.... and that’s a very, very long way off.

Interesting to note the heights to AHD of respective towers being:

This @ 225.83m
385 Bourke St @ 176.4m
405 Bourke St @ 175.5m (surprising!)
100 Queens St (ANZ) @ 174.5m
360 Collins @148.1m

So essentially it will stand at least 50m above the surrounding pack.
405 Bourke had a height increase once NAB signed on as tennant.
NAB slightly increased the height of each floor.
It is now 183m RL up from 176m RL.

See here: https://www.skyscrapercity.com/showp...&postcount=363

Clearly the bureaucrats at the DEWLP and Richard Wynne are unaware of this height increase since the 435 Bourke report is incorrect. I wonder what they would make of this post-approval height increase?

Lets hope CBUS does a similar thing here, this stumpy "chopped-for-no-good-reason" abomination could do with an extra 7m, it lost 44m in height last week.

Dear CBUS, Bates Smart and all folk here,

The lack of spires and the preponderance of flat roofs is extremely poor planning outcome.

What happened to 101 & 120 Collins spires?
Dead, dead and really dead.

This awful flat roof horror-show would at least look half decent with a 101 style 50m spire:

A sh*t outcome, a very sh*t outcome overall.

Our only hope me thinks.....

A stick!

I take it that 405 Bourke had a pre-existing Permit?

How else could they have determined to build such a long (N-S axis) tower in such close proximity to McKillop Street? It causes much greater detriment to McKillop Street than this ever would.

Yep. Maybe they just grew it without telling planning folks about it.

It will definitely be taller than what is listed in the 435 Bourke planning report. Almost makes me think DEWLP are unaware about it.

Hint hint CBUS, just build it taller and don't tell Richard "tall tower castrator" Wynne and his chop-chop friends.
