How did you take those people pictures without them noticing?

High-zoom lens. Mine's only a 55-200 mm, but it's still fairly easy to get "up close" shots without having to be in the subject's face. I just stake out a spot in the middle of the road for a few minutes and shoot the people as they come walking towards me. To them, I'm just taking a shot of the street, as they can't really see the lens sticking out. You get a lot of duds because people walk in front of you or you might mess up the focus, but if you take enough pictures, you're bound to get some pretty good ones in the bunch.

I wonder how long it will take the patina to develop.

Descending into the underground maze that gives its name to “Tōkyō Station City”. If the Marunouchi area aboveground feels deserted by Tōkyō standards, it’s because everyone is down here.

Tōkyō Bankers Association Building (1916)
The vertical addition doesn’t match too well, and I think what is left is actually just rebuilt… It looks much too new and clean.

I took so many pictures of traditional tiled-roof architecture that you’ll probably get sick of them by the time I’m done…

This was actually my first time visiting this particular part of Tōkyō, as I never had the urge to visit the Imperial Palace my first two visits. Turns out I was too late to enter the Outer Gardens, so I decided instead to walk the full perimeter of the Palace Grounds… I was surprised by the endless stream of joggers and power-walkers… It was difficult to find a gap to take a picture.
