You mean no choice but to lower the tariffs, or no choice but to increase the tariffs to fund the expansion (that was the argument I recall I read)

Seems as ARN is having an even harder time than CPH.

I mean we now have three airports of roughly equal importance where none can compete if their pricing gets out of line with the others. Good for Scandinavia, bad for Kastrup.

I think this is a good article on the 3 top unserved routes https://www.routesonline.com/news/29...es-in-profile/

I hope for SAS of course. With a more synchronised feeder from N Europe I wonder if SAS could not add a couple of passengers to those O&D numbers and go for all 3 :-) I guess that is at least what for instance Finnair do when they plan for new routes.

Looking in the other direction towards B

And now looking along the terminal from B to C

SAS will open a winter route to Scandinavian Mountain Airports from december with 2 weekly departures.

The airport is brand new and is placed in Sälen/Trysil.

Btw i thought that construction was 1 year out in the future.

But they are probably just removing sewers, electrical installations etc.
The road that runs along the building where all the luggage trucks drives will also have to be removed so its probably something to do with this.

The July numbers are up and as predicted it was a small decrease.

So the move will happen in mid january with 6 weekly departures.

When the summer 2020 programme starts on the 29th of March the route will be daily.

This was a very important route announcement, especially after Norwegian winter closed their LA route.

Yes but a change from 4 day weekly (wasn’t it?) to 6 day weekly and to SAS with its more “hub oriented strategy” is really one step up

Not so big as LAX perhaps but ANA have one slot planned from Haneda (HND) to Scandinavia. Not defined to where so I guess that could be CPH. Anyway the further speculation on Flyprat.no is that a Scandinavian airline (that is SAS I assume) will receive one slot in return and then SAS will switch their CPH-NRT to CPH-HND. I guess if that speculation is correct the “ANA Scandinavian route” is not to CPH.

Let’s hope CPH is on the go now. Saw this article on the most unserved routes. The usual suspects so nothing new. Still hope SAS will with the coming A350s manage to lay the puzzle so they can start serving Seoul as well https://www.flybranchen.dk/2019/09/d...-i-koebenhavn/.

Since most business travellers go to Seattle could it be possible with a shared route (or what the nautical term is).

Meaning that they serve Seattle 4 times weekly and then Vancouver 3 times weekly.
Just like they do with the Oslo/Copenhagen to Miami route.
Here you just replace Oslo and Copenhagen with Seattle and Vancouver and replace Miami with Copenhagen.

Hope it makes sense.

I think I understand. I do not know anything about route planning but I am not sure if you can go to Seattle or Vancouver and back within 24 hours. Otherwise I guess you will have to lay the puzzle with your planes. I suppose that is one of the benefits of moving HKG and LAX to CPH as well. You have more planes to play with when you plan for more routes.

Here is what routes CPH offered in November 1995.

I have just skimmed through the list but airports missing todays is Bremen, Borlänge, Vojens and Esbjerg and probably some others that I have overlooked.

Despite that, its clear to see that CPH has evolved much since then.

A similar list today will be taking ages to make and be very very long.

There are lots and lots more.

Skien, Odense Kristiansstad, Växjö, Västerås, Kuwait City, Berlin Tempelhof, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Kalmar, Jönköping and Thisted.

The many Swedish and Danish routes most likely closed after Øresundsbron and Storebæltsbroen opened but it wouldn't be bad to see the 2 Brazilian routes back.

Sankt Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Osaka and one or both of Leipzig and Dresden could also be nice to have back.

Were there direct routes to Brazil when the economy was booming early in the decade?

Sankt Petersburg seems the outlier in potential passengers to me.
