There seems to be a typo on the Miami route.

CPH Miami is 3 weekly (Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
OSL Miami is 2 weekly (Monday and Friday)
ARN Miami is 1 weekly (Tuesday)

Sunday is reroute via the SAS routes to Chicago, Newark etc. And then on to Miami.

Another change for SAS as the Boston route now operates daily when the A321LR arrive.
This is instead of 6 times weekly.

Norwegian close all their long haul routes out of CPH (and ARN) and will focus on feeding people to their hun in Oslo and Gatwick.

I think they will be very happy at the SAS HQ.

The only route that is not served by SAS is Orlando and Krabi.

Oakland serves the same area as San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale is also very close to Miami.
Miami will increase from 2 to 3 weekly departures from september.

SAS partner airline Thai Airways is off course serving the Bangkok route.

LAX is served 6 times weekly (or is it 5) from january by SAS.

To New York SAS is adding another weekly departure so it will be 2 daily during the summer.
Here Delta has extended their summer route so both will be happy with loosing Norwegian as a competitor.

On the Boston route I think SAS will be very happy with the reduced capacity from both Norwegian closing their route, and that they from September will use a smaller airplane with fewer seats.
But the frequency will be daily instead so the drop in capacity will not be so huge.

Saw in an article that Norwegian concluded that “Skandinavien er ikke stort nok til at opretholde interkontinentale flyvninger fra både Oslo, Stockholm og København.” I know SAS is another company but one could wonder if/when they will come to the same conclusion.

SAS has come to the same conclusion

SAS has long ago arrived at the same conclusion, why they are gathering most of their traffic in CPH with feeds in from all around. Plus 1 weekly trip out of CPH like norwegian does it, does not attract business travellers. SAS does it daily to most destinations.

Perhaps. But they still talk about 3 hubs and when they discuss for instance the 2nd and 3rd leased A321LR all options are on the table. Including low frequency routes from secondary Scandinavian cities to NY.

Edit: As Norwegian close all LR on ARN and CPH, SAS still have some LR on OSL and ARN. Hence if they have drawn the same conclusion they are not living up to it completely

Re: Page 106 - Airports of Øresund Metro Area | News & Updates

The new A350 in the new livery came in from Toulouse today. Looks like they did a little lap of honour. I guess today is a day when CPH is happy about the 12/30 runway

No surprise really, but SAS is changing airport in Tokyo from Narita to Haneda.

The numbers are out.

The airport points at the SAS strike, WOW and Primera bankruptcy and Norwegians cust cutting measures as the reason for the decline.

Since Norwegian have decided to stop all LH from CPH next year I suppose it is a risk the trend will continue. LAX is in the pipeline but to fully compensate, and to see some growth, I guess they need some more routes. LH routes from serious players, preferably SAS and not some LCC.

You are getting some LCC :-) remember that Air Transat will start to fly to Montreal this summer.

I wonder if the added capacity from SAS, Delta and Singapore Airlines (transfer to Bangkok) will absorb some of the missing traffic.

4 weekly to New York will be some what replaced by SAS adding a 14th weekly departure (+1) and Delta adding almost 3 months to their summer route.

3 time weekly to Los Angeles will be replaced by a 6 weekly SAS route.

2 times weekly to Oakland can hopefully be absorbed by SAS nearby daily route to San Franscisco.

2 times weekly to Fort Lauderdale will be reduced by only 1 weekly flight as SAS goes from 2 to 3 weekly on the nearby Miami route.

Orlando with 1 weekly will not be replaced.

Bangkok with 1 weekly will also not be replaced, but Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines adds capacity so they will probably take some of that missing capacity.

Boston was apparently not served summer 2019.

Some route announcements that came just before Christmas.

Austrian Airlines adds 3 weekly flights to Vienna in the summer schedule so they will have 5 weekly flights every day except Saturday with 4 flights.

Royal Jordanian adds a 4th weekly flight to Amman but only until August, then its back to 3 weekly flights.

Airports of Øresund Metro Area | News & Updates

Few exterior photo updates

The new "bagage handling building"

and a close up of the same

The hotel is almost done

and from another angle where they have managed to put up the 'comfort hotel' sign

And one on the outside of terminal 1. I guess they are just changing some of the roads. But the picture gives me an opportunity to ask a question: Why is CPH not using this terminal more (all the way out to the old domestic)? To me this terminal seems to be underdeveloped and could be expanded a lot, perhaps even with a little finger (if they moved this "brandstoflageret"). Understand they try to put charter in this end but compared to the other fingers...

Airports of Øresund Metro Area | News & Updates

New year approaches and here is my list of positive things in 2019
1. Opening of finger F and expansion between A and B
2. SAS decide to move LAX to CPH. A very important signal
3. An agreement is reached on tværbanen.
And in a 4th place...CPH have “survived ” despite some setbacks.

And here is my wish list for 2020
1. SAS decides to consolidate their LH routes and the feed. That is one big waive after lunch with a smaller waive in the evening. A win-win for both LH and feed, and SAS will have a more competitive product
2. SAS decides for a more “concrete” strategy and implement that. Such as ‘the no 1 airline if you want to go to or from N America and N Europe’. And with a second phase saying it is ‘the no 1 airline if you want to go to or from N America, N Europe or S Asia (India)’. The strategy of today says absolutely nothing. Management jumbo.
3. If SAS do nothing of above and continue to look at route per route I hope for the following routes (in this order): Seoul, Seattle and Johannesburg.

And on 4th place...there will be a final political decision (with a start date) to extend the train capacity with the 2 extra platforms.

I have nothing for CPH on my wish list. They have some exciting things in 2020 and doing fine. Good strategy. I also have nothing on the other airlines. The others are important but for CPH to turn in to a hub it is only one airline that counts.

Edit: added the 4th place on the wish list

And her it is. The LAX from CPH. Always thought they would start 20/1...

Anyway, guess the picture also visualise how spread out, time wise, SAS are on their flights. There is one more US flight (Chicago) that couldn’t fit in to the picture and if that one is considered the US flights take off within 8 hours (first just before 10 and the last just before 16). Swiss in comparison have 6 of their us flights take off within 30 minutes....
