Makes some sense; you don't give away money without expecting a good return.

But Allianz, for example, has been having enormous financial success and has still found that it makes sense for them to buy naming rights. The driver is probably more forward looking, that is, whether even more profits can result from structuring a naming deal.

I would expect the deal to be complicated and reach across different media, demographics and modalities (shoes, gear, movies, travel, etc.). This is a pretty big deal and doesn't come along every day.

Hey everybody here are the HD Cams for the start of the workweek 8/12/19! For some reason north and west are done on the site, however the rest are from today. Enjoy!

I'm surprised that AA hasn't already put up a sign and stenciled their name in the dirt.

American Airlines had put up a banner but moved it.

Thanks! I honestly was wondering what was wrong with their PR people for not having something in place in time for the announcement. That's just a waste of free exposure.

We should keep an eye out for other signage being sneaked in. You must still have the stadium, the performance venue, the lake and a 100 subsections to brand!

Maybe MSG could put in 200M or so for "MSG Stadium: Home of the Forum"?

It will be interesting to see how this all comes together.

I still think the fully open, outdoor nature of the Coliseum and its admittedly non-slick, old-time format will have more charm as a backdrop for the formal start and end of the next LA Olympics compared with the $2 billion place in Inglewood. But who knows? YMMV.

Thanks, a couple of really nice posts.

Important as they are, the Olympics isn't a major focus since the stadium is not used for events but only for two days of ceremonies, and those to some extent will be shared with the Coliseum. Likewise for other one time events.

The functionality as a football and convention venue will be what makes or breaks the stadium. Something this large and this unique needs thought about how to stage events, movement from area to area, keeping in scale with the surroundings, etc. You want guests to be awed, but not to feel tiny and isolated.

What will be the diameter of the LED ring?

Will the LED ring be of the same diameter as that of the LED halo inside Atlanta's MBS?

I notice that McVay and Snead have been extended through 2023 with “lucrative” contracts and American Airlines has paid 90M for naming rights to the PLAZA (not the stadium).

It seems that Kroenke and Snead, who were constantly attacked and ridiculed in St. Louis as incompetents, are not quite as dumb as the locals thought. I'll bet Goodell would even say they're pretty smart.
