Centre's decision on revised DPR for Outer Ring Road today

Quote:
MYSORE: The ongoing work on making the Outer Ring Road (ORR) six-lane may gather pace as the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Rs. 239 crore will come up before a meeting of the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India, in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The work is being taken up under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.

An official from the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) will participate in the meeting to clarify some observations made on the revised DPR.

The DPR for Rs. 219 crore sent earlier was approved, and the Centre released the first instalment ( Rs. 54 crore, including the share of the State Government and MUDA) for carrying out the works in four phases.

Meanwhile, MUDA decided to take up work on a 9.33-km stretch of the ORR, linking Nanjangud Road and Bannur Road, which had been left out at the time of constructing the ORR owing to paucity of funds.

The 32.3-km ORR, including the 9.33-km stretch, is being widened to six lanes. The revised project cost was prepared after including the cost of widening the 9.33-km stretch.

“Tuesday's meeting in New Delhi will take a decision on the revised DPR. The Ministry had sought some clarifications. We are hopeful that it will be approved and the second instalment released soon,” MUDA Commissioner C.G. Betsurmath said.

Speaking to The Hindu, the commissioner said the release of the third and fourth instalments may not take much time once the revised DPR was approved.

The work to widen the ORR into six lanes was in progress from the funds released in the first instalment. Nearly 70 per cent of the work (in two packages) had been completed, he added.

Land acquisition

Land acquisition along the 9.33-km ORR stretch had been completed and the road alignment has been done.

The stretch passes through Lalitadri Nagar, the new layout being developed by MUDA at the Chamundi foothills.

The Centre will cover 80 per cent of the project cost, while the State Government and MUDA will contribute 10 per cent each.

Fingers crossed, hope it gets approved this time.Bannur to Nanjangud stretch forms the most important link of the ring road.

Centre Gov. on Tuesday cleared revised DPR of the Outer Ring Road

Quote:
The Centre on Tuesday cleared revised DPR of the Outer Ring Road paving way for completion of the project, including 9 km missing link. While the MUDA has argued to drop construction of service lane along the ORR and divert the funds for the construction of the 9 km eastern alignment connecting Bannur road to Ooty road, the Centre didn't approve it. After the MUDA agreed to construct the service lane too, the revised DPR was approved, commissioner C G Betsurmath said
