Tenali is also called as Andhra Paris. It is known for its rich cultural heritage and greatest stage artists. Tenali is second biggest railway junction in Vijayawada railway division. In terms of number of trains passing through this station it is much more than Guntur.

http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper...le16991535.ece

District Collector Kantilal Dande led others by painting the stretch of a wall on the road leading to the Collector’s office on Wednesday. Wielding a brush, Mr. Dande joined the students of various engineering colleges as the campaign for making Guntur a poster-free city gained momentum.

Guntur Municipal Corporation, celebrating the 150 years of its formation, has launched a concerted action plan to make the city free of posters.

“We will act tough on those defacing the walls and using them to paste hand bills or movie posters. Violators will be punished under Prevention of Disfigurement of Open Places and Prohibition of Obscene and Objectionable Posters and Advertisements Act - 1997 Section 3 and 4. Those convicted under the Act is liable for punishment of three months of imprisonment or a fine of Rs.2,000,” Municipal Commissioner Nagalakshmi S said.

Roads identified

The GMC has identified eight stretches of main roads where the poster- free project will be implemented. The eight roads are: NTR Statue to Pedakakani Y junction through the bus station complex, Municipal Office to Travellers Bungalow, Travellers Bungalow to Chuttugunta, to Collectors’s office, Kankaragunta flyover, Pattabhipuram Road, Gujjangundla, Amaravathi Chillies to Inner Ring Road, Lakshmipuram Main Road to Hanumayya company, BR Stadium to Ponnur Road.

The GMC has roped in students of various private engineering colleges to do the wall paintings on these stretches.

Two model police stations coming up in Guntur

http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper...le16997546.ece

Aim is to bring in transparency and accountability, says official

Two model police stations integrating technology with human efficiency will soon start functioning in Guntur.

A brain child of Director-General of Police, N. Sambasiva Rao, the model police stations stand out by a pleasing green ambience, impressive glass faįade and the comforts of an air conditioning. The two model police stations at Nagarampalem and Old Guntur are the first of its kind in the country.

Mr. Sambasiva Rao said that 25 model police stations would be constructed by the end of March.

Senior police officials said that functioning of police officers in model police stations would not only bring in an attitudinal and behavioural change but also help streamline the work.

“Police stations have been looked down as dens of suspicion by people since the days of colonization, but the AP Police has decided to change the way the police work and behave with people.

Modern systems like petition management system are being introduced. Two training sessions in effective communication, crowd management and family counselling have been given to policemen. Accountability will be brought in by transparent file management systems,’’ N. Sanjay, Inspector-General of Police, Guntur, told The Hindu on Thursday.

Modern design

The model police stations stand out for their innovation and modern building design. Designed in an area of 3,000 square feet, the police station has office space for all personnel.

There is a reception counter in front of the cabin of Circle Inspector. There are no walls in the police station and cabins have been designed for officers.

Rest rooms have been provided for officers and men, while a solitary detention room is located in the same office building. A command control room has facilities to monitor law and order and flow of traffic through a network of CCTV cameras.

A stretch of green plantations and tiled pavements surround the police stations giving a refreshing look to the buildings.
