Here's a clearer and larger render of the interchange, as well as a render with (impressive) technical specs ...

Update 2016-02-05

Bridge 214 from M41 to N2 heading north to Stanger - segment 4 launched today.

Bridge 215 South (straight section heading to Durban) is now approx. 2 meters away from it's final position, Launching nose will be completely removed today.

Bridge 215 North (curved section coming from Mt Edgecombe) will launch the next segment today Approx. 15mtrs.

That will be the first time ever (That I am aware) that there have been 3 incremental launches completed on 3 separate bridges on the same site, in one day.

Good to hear! Is it still looking on track time wise for completion?

Original completion date was for October 2016, but with weather delays and other constraints that are always a part of a project of this magnitude they should look to be complete by early 2017.

Some elements of the project will be opened in the very near future. The new ramp from the M41 coming from Phoenix going onto the N2 heading North, will be the first of the new ramps to become operational.

Update

This is the site as it stands at the moment. The project has been halted as mentioned above due to the intimidation of workers and contractors. Will update with images as soon as my post count allows.

I find these interruptions a crazy thing in SA. It seems any major development faces this these days.

Either political or for jobs, does this happen in other cities in South Africa?

Which ramps are closest to completion now or will a few be opened at the same time again?

Wow. I was wondering why there were 4 metro cops there just to keep the road closed.

It seems all major construction projects in the country are facing this

Back to work

Work on the Mount Edgecombe interchange upgrade project has resumed, approximately 3 weeks of work was lost due to the intimidation action.

Various stages of this project will be opened in the near future to allow for the removal of temporary traffic accommodations.
