Yonkers subsidizes high rise in Larkin Plaza

Yonkers will give a proposed downtown high-rise at least $7 million in tax breaks to promote development at the city's waterfront.

The RXR real estate development company is proposing to build a 442-unit residential tower in Larkin Plaza just south of the daylighted Saw Mill River park. The $197.4 million development includes ground floor retail and restaurant space and a 509-space parking garage.

The site is currently occupied by a row of squat, dilapidated buildings owned by Rising Development, which partnered with RXR. The Yonkers Industrial Development Agency voted for the deal at its Sept. 24 meeting and the incentives consist of $4.7 million in sales tax and $2.3 million in mortgage-recording tax breaks; a property tax agreement has not yet been negotiated.

This is great news for Yonkers. It has so much potential being so accessible to the city.

This is great for Yonkers. Are there any recent updates for this development? Exciting times for the city!

The 25 story tower will be 249' as per the developer's website. The 17 floor building is 164'

Here's a rendering of the project on the waterfront skyline

not the best shot, but as you can see, the second tower is well underway.
