Yes it feels much more pleasant around here already. It should be even better when it’s full of new residents.

Must be one of the city's biggest/ dense city blocks? Are these similar to the midrise Eastside locks blocks??

Arden Gate | William Street | Residential | 10fl | 31m | U/C

I said this before and I still think it’s true. The blue brickwork looks good but the beige bricks are just ok.

The render on the hoarding shows beige and brown bricks.

Overall I still think this is a quality development and a massive improvement for the area.

Such an improvement for the area too, the building that was formerly on site looked more like a prison than anything, this coupled with The Toybox and Granville Lofts have really improved the area. Bath Court still to come too, just need something to happen to the Shell site now, don't think we'll see anything there for the foreseeable future.

Am I right in thinking there's still space for more development between Granville Lofts and Arden Gate?

I think these style of apartments would look great along a canal e.g. the Port Loop.

Yes, there is a surface car park. It was operational when I was last around there a year ago.

Bear Would, I agree totally. The proposals for East Side Locks have a similar style of apartments, albeit a few stories higher.

Yep, it's still fairly busy too with all the developments round there.

I like the Shell garage. It’s a good 60s(?) building. If it gets demolished I’d want to see it replaced with something decent. Something similar to the Toybox or better.

The buildings that need to go now are the low rise social housing units. They could be replaced with mid-rise buildings. They could be similar in height to the Toybox. They could be 50% social housing and 50% shared ownership. Even with this ratio I think the number of social housing units could be considerably increased.

The long leasehold was put out to tender by the council about 6 months or so ago so hopefully we may see a proposal in the next 12 months.

I wonder if the CAZ will have an effect on shell and others inside the zone like we are seeing with car showrooms?
