Oooo shaping up really well. The first stage of Paradise was thrilling watching all the old guff come down. Then there was a lull as structures got built; finally we're seeing the first proper fruit of the project. I like it.

Hope they're going to give the Chamberlain Memorial Fountain a darn good going over with the Karcher.

I was going back through my old posts and came across this, it is from March 2016, I think it is Reiss's photo:

Does anyone have a picture from a similar location now? It's like another world. Massive improvement.

The webcam allows you to 'go back in time' as far back as the beginning of demolition on the Central Library in autumn 2015:

Just me again with a couple photos of one of my favourite projects.

Look at the low sun is shimmering off it.

Such a shame the view in those photos is going to be hidden in a few years time

Always thought the vast area being developed in front of the town hall and next to 2 chamberlain square could have been used for a lovely park with fountains etc ...Missed opportunity

Footfall is too high for soft landscaping, it's a pedestrian arterial route, it'll just get trampled on.

As an aside, the nice thing about medium density over a mass of whopping great tall towers though is that you can spread people out more rather than concentrating them in a small area that then becomes far too busy. Spreading things out a little more offers more space for green public spaces. If Paradise had been a couple of calls the area would always be swamped with people.

Controversial opinion but the site of 103 is wrong. the area is already busy with loads of thriving bars and restaurants. The building there should have been the same height as its surroundings. In an ideal world they would have knocked down the Wesleyan and put 103 there, thus exposing that side of corporation street to much higher footfall and encourage public realm improvements as well as more bars and restaurants to pop up etc.

Do we have a tenant here? One floor looks like it's been fitted out, all internal lights fitted etc.

Crane coming down today.

I was told that DLA Piper are relocating (and expanding) from their Victoria Square offices to here although I don't know what date they're planning to move
