Quote:

Quote:

Govt to connect 3000 villages with roads: Bharat Singh

Quote:
Jaipur. As many as 3,000 villages in Rajasthan will be connected with the road-network, State Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Bharat Singh has announced in the state assembly on Thursday evening. Replying debate on budgetary demands of the PWD, Roads and Bridges on Thursday evening, Singh also announced for promulgation of new roads policy in the state.

The Minister said about 3000 villages which had been left from being brought on the road map under the Prime Minister’s Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) would now have coal tar carpeted roads under the newly formulated Mahatma Gandhi State Sadak Yojna.

The new road policy which meant to substitute the one implemented in 1994, would stress up on road maintenance works prior to monsoon to take safe guard to prevent damages to the roads due to rain waters.

He said the government had planned to take up works for laying/improving roads in a stretch of 2,600 Km during 2012-13 and the target would be to complete all works by October 2013.

Besides this, works on 500 Km stretch of inter-state roads would also commence during 2012-13 that involves investment of Rs 200 crore, the Minister said. After the Minister’s reply the House passed budgetary demands for PWD(Rs 859.22 crore) and Roads and Bridges(Rs.2684.92 crore) by voice vote. Agency

Haryana, Rajasthan clear alignment of Delhi-Jaipur expressway

Quote:
NEW DELHI: The proposed six-lane expressway from Delhi to Jaipur has cleared a major hurdle. The new alignment of the expressway, which will have a limited number of entries and exits, has been approved by Haryana and Rajasthan. The two states want National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the highways ministry to consult them while proposing real estate development along the expressway.

Delhi government has already given an in-principle approval to the access-controlled expressway which is expected to slash travel time between the two cities to less than three hours. The length of the new alignment will be around 230-240 km. The portion of the expressway falling in Delhi will be elevated since availability of land is a problem in the national capital.

Haryana town and country planning (DTCP) secretary S S Dhillon recently wrote to NHAI saying that the state would provide all support to the Centre for execution of the project, including land acquisition matters, said a senior Haryana government official. Rough estimates by NHAI suggest the project could cost around Rs 12,000 crore. Those pockets which will be developed for residential and commercial projects along the expressway may be given access to the highway. This will cross subsidize the project for developers," said a ministry source.

The new expressway has become a necessity because of the increasing congestion on NH-8. The traffic chaos will only get worse due to the widening of the stretch between Delhi and Jaipur. At present, traffic jams are regularly reported from this stretch since the road width has reduced. "In future, this new-alignment expressway would be a part of the continuous expressway connectivity between Delhi and Mumbai," said a government source.

Haryana government officials told TOI that they have agreed to NHAI's proposal of making the link pass through Gurgaon, Manesar, Rewari and Kothputli. However, the approval comes with a rider. One of the conditions put forward by the state is that the alignment should not affect any housing or commercial projects in the state for which DTCP has already issued licences. Moreover, the state wants NHAI to elevate the portion of the expressway which cross state roads. Haryana has also asked the highway authority to help the government improvesome of the state roads along the new expressway and to provide links to them.

The new alignment is likely to be announced next week. In his letter to NHAI, Rajasthan's chief secretary has reportedly said that the state government wants the road authority to provide a link from the expressway to the industrial township of Bhiwadi.

The state has also sought a short link from Jaipur city to the expressway. As per the proposal, the expressway will join the Jaipur bypass, which falls on the outskirts of the city.

Rajasthan gets Rs 1355 crore from NABARD for roads

Quote:
JAIPUR: National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) on Thursday sanctioned Rs 1355 crore for the construction of roads in rural parts of Rajasthan. The financial support is in the form of soft loans under NABARD's rural infrastructure development fund.

State government is aiming to connect all the villages with population of 250 to 500 with the tar roads. However, out of 2900 eligible villages under the scheme, NABARD will only fund for 1337 villages covering 4822 kilometers. Rest of the villages will be covered from the aid received from World Bank and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

With assembly election to be held in 2013, the state government was desperately looking for financial support from the external agency. The public works department (PWD) sent projects worth Rs 1,562 crore to NABARD but only Rs 1335 crore was approved by the bank.

"It is the highest amount sanctioned by the NABARD to any state for the constructions of roads. They are impressed with our work and the way we utilized the funds under (PMGSY)," said the official.

The construction of roads in the area with population of more than 500 people is in the process and so far 75% of it has been completed. Apart from rural roads the funds will also be utilized for linking the tribal and deserts villages, development of interstate highways and refurbishment of missing links in the state.

So far, through its rural infrastructure development fund (RIDF), NABARD has disbursed loans worth Rs 5,406 crore to Rajasthan till September 2011.

Work has restarted on Kota's Chambal cable stayed bridge with a revised deadline. Press Release from RMD Kwikform:

Juy 13: RMD Kwikform Win Kota Bridge Contract

Quote:
RMD Kwikform India is to design and supply shoring and formwork solutions for the first axial suspension cable stayed bridge ever built in India.

The Kota Bridge’s innovative design sees a single 350-metre span cross the entire width of the Chambal River, with three approach spans on either side. It is these approach spans that will feature RMD Kwikform shoring solutions.

RMD Kwikform’s ultra heavy duty Megashor shoring has been chosen as the support system for the 32 metre high, 32m wide and 60m long main deck of the approach spans. Having to deal with local wind conditions, Megashor also has the ability to cope with the dead weight of the deck itself.

A combination of Superslim, GTX Beams and specially designed crank soldiers are to be employed on the cantilever wing form, while the pier cap will be constructed using a Rapidshor system.

The bridge will be finished by the end of 2014, with RMD Kwikform completing its involvement in August 2013, just 13 months after starting work on the project.

Arul Raja, Vice President at RMD Kwikform India, said:

“In supplying formwork and shoring solution to the Kota Bridge we have worked in partnership with construction firms Gammon India and Hyundai Engineering to deliver a bespoke solution in line with the project’s environmental considerations. “RMD Kwikform’s involvement in a project of this significance further demonstrates its on going commitment to supporting large scale projects in India.”
This bridge is a part of the Kota Bypass project on NH76 in Rajasthan. For renders and project info, check out Hindustani's post.

New highway to offer better connectivity between Jaipur and Gujarat

Quote:
Jaipur: The western part of the state will soon be better connected with the capital as well as neighbouring Gujarat. More than half a dozen highways are awaiting financial sanctions from the government after which Suratgarh’s connectivity with Jaipur and Gujarat will improve.

Sources in the public works department (PWD) said developers are about to give financial disclosures after which work on highways will begin.

The projects include Ajmer-Nagaur-Bikaner-Suratgarh and Sikar-Bikaner-Suratgarh. It will be ensured that far-flung areas of western Rajasthan are connected with Jaipur via Ajmer.

PWD officials said Suratgarh will now be connected with Gujarat as after the completion of this highway people willing to go to the neighbouring state will passs through Nagaur and Pali. The highway will be linked to NH-14 in Sirohi, making way to Gujarat.

This highway will be a boon for exporters of the Shekhawati region and Jodhpur who until now have been using Gujarat ports for transporting their goods, said analysts.

The officials said the civil works of as many as seven highways will start soon. Of these, construction of one highway has already begun while of others will start after getting financial sanctions.

All highways will be tolled and people will be taxed for using these.

It would take around two years to complete all these projects, which include two four-lane highways, the officials said.

Notably, the development of highways in the state is being taken up again after objections raised by the ministry of environment and forest stalling the progress of projects, including Kishangarh-Ajmer-Udaipur highway, which recently had recently received a green signal from the ministry but the developer is yet to begin the project.
