Quote:

Saheliyon ki Badi, Fateh Sagar Paal and Rajiv Gandhi Park will soon have Light & Sound and Laser show in their premises. UIT has asked for proposals from concerned companies till 15th June.

Secretary Ramniwas Mehta informed that this proposal will be implemented on the turn-key aspect where the government or the UIT will not have to invest; rather it will be a concern of the related firms or companies. It is to consider that Collector Rohit Gupta had proposed for such amenities at these sites.

Considering that the fountains at Saheliyon ki Badi are quite old; fountains at Vibhuti Park wither don’t function or lack such arrangements. Also, the condition is somewhat similar at Rajiv Gandhi as well.

Rs 300cr sewage treatment plan for Udaipur city

The Times of India
Quote:
Jaipur: Better late than never. Udaipur, the city of lakes, is all set to rapidly transform its waste management system and clean its water bodies of urban sewage.

An integrated Rs 300-crore sewerage treatment plan for the entire city has been prepared under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) programme. The project plans to treat the sewage flowing into Ahar or Ayad river, also known as the neglected Ganga of Rajasthan.

"Ayad river of Udaipur has turned into a sewage drain and needs to be revived. The state-level technical committee (SLTC) had sanctioned Rs 304 crore for sewage treatment in the city. Presently, there are 139 drains that carry city sewage to the river. Four agencies have been engaged for the treatment project which is scheduled to be completed before the monsoon of 2019," said Dr Manjit Singh, principal secretary, local self-government, and state mission director, Smart City Mission & AMRUT.

According to officials, the municipal corporation prepared the integrated DPR of the sewerage plant for Udaipur city and the same has been approved under the AMRUT mission by SLTC.

Two proposals were prepared for the river which is the lifeline of the tourist city. While the first proposal seeks to carry sewage from all drains along the Ayad river through covered conduit to a STP, the second plan is to construct a decentralized sewerage treatment system near the river to treat effluents throughout the year.

In Phase I, the area close to the lakes would be covered at an estimated cost of Rs 5.75 crore. "Work on the lifting station at Naganagari and Lalghat has been completed and work is in progress at Maharaj Ghat, Nathi Ghat, Sisarama and Pipli Ghat. In Phase II, a decentralized 40MLD STP, based on the hybrid annuity model, would be set up at a cost of Rs 304 crore. Udaipur Smart City Ltd (USCL) has issued the work order for the sewerage plant and the project is in progress. So far, over 4km sewer lines have been laid," said Sidharth Sihag, CEO, Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC).

Besides these government projects, Hindustan Zinc Ltd is constructing three STPs—a 5MLD plant near Kazrali House, 10MLD near FCI godown and 25MLD STP at Eklingpura. "At present, the sewerage plant covers 20.3% of the Udaipur city. But after the completion of the above projects, the coverage will be 62.5%. While the current sewage discharge of the city is 57MLD, the sewage treatment capacity of all the plants on completion would be more than the discharge," said Dr Manjit.

Elevated road project needs two years for completion

Udaipur Times - By Monika S on October 30, 2017
Quote:
Elevated road project, the dream project for city traffic is expected to take its final form in another 2 years. Traffic in the city needs to be taken care of. For the betterment of traffic, the project of elevated roads that was stuck for 10 long years will get a final touch in next two years.

Obstructions on the path of this dream project have been taken care of. Tender process has begun under National Highway Board which will take 6 months to complete. Elevated road project will begin after tender process and will complete in the next one and a half year. The estimated budget is around 300 crore rupees for elevated road project. National Highway Board will acquire the lands of Waqf board, LIC and RNT medical College for this purpose with the assistance of administration.

NHAI have completed the formalities for the construction of elevated road from Udiapole to Court Circle. Approximate length of the road is 1 km 600 m. Route survey, rock testing, soil testing, map, design etc.formalities have been done for the elevated road and sent to Delhi office of NHAI Board. It will 6 months to sign contract with the construction company. The construction company will be assigned 18 months to complete the project. It is expected that by December 2019, the elevated road will be ready for transportation.

Lands under acquisition are basically from the government quota. Governments agencies need to tie up with each other to complete the formalities of acquisitions.

The proposal for elevated roads had begun in 2007. Until 2014 it could not be decided whether elevated roads would be feasible or not. In the meanwhile, the elevated road project faced an opposition from the businessmen in the market area. The opposition stands as is even today.

UCCI President along with other businessmen from the proposed area for the elevated road wrote several letters protesting the elevation. As per their statement, the elevated road will prove to be a hindrance in their business.

Reports also say that traffic condition will improve due to elevated roads. During construction people might be forced to face traffic issues. After completion the elevated road will prove to be beneficial for the growing traffic in the city for years to come.
