See the Monster Crane Helping Build $3.9B Bridge

Bloomberg has a short video about the crane.

To be fair, there is not much actual content about the bridge, but a few nice shots of the crane with the Verrazano and downtown and such.

I believe they are planning on demolishing the old bridge before it collapses on its own.
But could they possibly refurbish it to use for rail service?

I imagine they will build the new bridge beside the old...Open the new bridge, demolish the old bridge then build the second new bridge in the same location as the old bridge then you have two new bridges and no old bridge...for a train or anything ? Maybe...

the new bridge will have two spans, both just to the north of the old bridge. There are no immediate plans for trains but I've heard the new bridge is being built to possibly accommodate light rail.

You sure they won't be able to use CRT as a cross-Westchester connector?

They claimed it was to expensive even though it used Interstate ROW with the exception of the Tunnel under Downtown White Plains. Honestly they need both for Westchester , a LRT network needs to service the Route 119 & 100 corridors connecting White Plains with Yonkers and forming TOD clusters in Hartsdale , Elmsford , Fairview ,Greenville and Tarrytown. The I-287 linking Rockland to the City would be a huge boon for Nyack , Spring Valley and Suffern. Connecting White Plains & Stamford would create a huge spark in redevelopment.
