So you when you are talking about LRT you are talking about something on the scale of the sound link project?

So the Port Authority hosted a Summit on Tran-Hudson Capacity solutions here is a Link to the page, and the Slide shows by the PA, MTA, NJT, Amtrak and the RPA are at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

Could one of the moderators please combine this thread with the one that is in the Bridges section under infrastructure? Is no need and having to threads that contain almost identical information in this one is smaller and less relevant it needs to be combined with the other one.

I wish the moderators would combine this thread with the one in the bridges section which is where this project belongs. This thread is listed under skyscrapers which is certainly not appropriate. In addition the other thread is much larger and complete in this thread never contains any information that that one doesn't. Posters just post in both threads when they have something interesting.

This section is about NYC-NJ-CT projects....and the Bridge section is just about bridges. Some people just browse this section while others browse the bridge section.

This section Is about North American Skyscrapers in the New York City metropolitan area! Go through the menu tree to get here and you will see that! Thus, bridges don't belong here.

Besides 90% of the posts in this thread are just duplicates of posts in the other thread and it's much easier to just go one place to keep track of a project.

first span opening delayed due to potential traffic issues

http://westfaironline.com/75561/tapp...to-be-delayed/

Quote:
[...]
Megna said the $3.98 billion Tappan Zee Bridge replacement is still set to fully open in 2018 and is on budget, but the opening of the first span has been pushed to spring or summer of 2017. The first span was set to open in December 2016.

“It’s advantageous to keep traffic on the existing bridge as long as possible,” Megna told the board Nov. 9 at a meeting in Albany.

He said that there was a “slight, awkward issue” with diverting traffic flow at an angle from the new bridge, which could slow down traffic to 45 mph.

“There was no reward to rushing to getting this bridge working in the winter when the traffic issues would be at their height,” he said.

LoHud: Tappan Zee: Regional bus system planning continues

Quote:
[...]
Last month, the state landed a $10 million federal grant to hep fund new bus stations, ramp signals and other technology to speed traffic on Route 59 in Rockland and Route 119 in Westchester.

The first phase of the regional system is projected to cost $91 million over five years; the state has $60 million in hand and has pledged to make up any shortfall.

The service could be incrementally expanded to six other routes, including one featuring 44 new stops between White Plains and Yonkers.

South Nyack Tappan Zee Bridge Committee Selects Shared Use Path Plan

Quote:
[...]
The five-member committee was focused on allaying fears of residents and elected officials regarding future traffic and parking issues as well as the the Thruway Authority’s fiscal concerns. The TZBTF acknowledged the merits of three of the four plans submitted proposed by the NYS Thruway, but ultimately recommended “Concept F,” which places a 54 spot parking lot on land now owned by the state behind the South Nyack Village Hall.
