I've grabbed the amended renders compared to the 'submitted' renders, I must say, it looks much better without all the grey, it's a shame we lost the corner though, overall a great improvment!

Thanks for posting reiss, That's much better, happy with the ammendments

No one congratulating the planners (only way an amendment would have been introduced 2 weeks before committee) for getting this right then...??? :/

Lol should have expanded. Shopping centres was the answer. I was saying it needs to happen as one of the busiest shopping centres in Europe is on its door step and as valuable as the land is the current mess needs to be changed.

Good lord no, planners are like goalkeepers. They're just there to get blamed when it goes wrong; the good schemes are all down to other people.

Major improvement - I really like this a lot now - however, will it be built like this though.. or will a few too many.. ahem... corners be cut..... so to speak?

CGI of Benacre's project to build 323 studios in Upper Dean Street - the hunt for a development partner is now on
The hunt is on for a development partner to build a new student accommodation block containing more than 300 apartments in Birmingham city centre.

Benacre Properties has received the green light to turn the Gallan Group car park, on the corner of Pershore and Upper Dean streets near the Wholesale Markets, into a mixed-use scheme containing 323 studios, five commercial units totalling 7,530 sq ft and bike and car parking.

The ten-storey project would involve the retention and incorporation of a Grade II-listed building at 42-45 Upper Dean Street as the main entrance into the student block.

Really thought a development partner would have been in place or lined up before they submitted for planning? so this is not guaranteed anytime soon then!

There are a lot of investors looking for property projects at the moment and the Birmingham Post making a big splash about it will help no end.

There will be loads to do getting the planning conditions resolved and the detailed design going too before its ready to go on site.

Plenty if reasons to believe it will go forward in the fullness of time.

I wish Seven Capital would look at snapping up some more suburban properties like Balsall Heath's tram garage (front part as the main building is the indoor climbing centre) and those lovely Georgian houses opposite JC college, and maybe lots of unused properties along Great Hampton St.

I don't think that's their thing - they don't appear to be too bothered about restoration jobs but more of working with what's there. They all need much more care and innovation IMHO.
