How about we limit the amount of floors to be included in this compilation to let's say 15 floors? Everything above - needs a dedicated thread.

15 floors isn't very notable in many places of Manhattan. When starting threads I've been trying to scale it by neighborhood - what actually stands out vs what is basically infill

Uptown | Avery Fisher/David Geffen Hall Renovation | App

Quote:
London-based Heatherwick Studio and Toronto-based Diamond Schmitt Architects are being charged with the difficult task of reinvigorating the 2,738-seat auditorium, updating its acoustics, and providing a renewed space for 'Legends at Lincoln Center: the Performing Arts Hall of Fame,' which will showcase the films and performing arts events for which the complex has become known. Fans of the concrete International Style exterior will be relieved to hear that officials from the Lincoln Center have no plans to alter the facade.

Over 100 architecture firms were evaluated during the selection process by a jury of representatives from both the Lincoln Center and the New York Philharmonic. Acoustic design firm Akustiks and theatre design firm Fisher Dachs will also be actively involved in the reimagining of the iconic concert hall. “We believe this pairing of Heatherwick and Diamond Schmitt offers the most compelling potential for the New York Philharmonic’s new home that will reflect the excellence and artistry of this Orchestra, as well as further enhance and support the Philharmonic’s evolution as a 21st-century institution,” said Oscar S. Schafer, chairman of the New York Philharmonic.

Diamond Schmitt is a top-notch firm for performing arts. They did a fantastic job with the new Mariinsky, a very traditional design with no modernistic silliness-- even if the style was contemporary. They also did the Montreal Symphony and the Four Seasons in Toronto. I'm sure they can do a good job with Lincoln Center. Too many times a performing arts center has been mangled by an architect's desire to be "creative", compromising its functionality. Or--

Midtown | 335 Madison Avenue | Renovation | Pro

a significant tower could rise here next to One Vanderbilt. It is in the early stages of planning.

NY Post: Vanderbilt corridor set for massive new tower

Quote:
Shrewd Howard Milstein is now focusing on designing and developing a completely new modern tower at 335 Madison Ave. that would take advantage of the new Vanderbilt corridor zoning boost, The Post has learned.
[...]
Some sources have indicated that Milstein, harkening back to its location and history, would like to include a “high end” hotel as part of the new plans.
[...]
The Vanderbilt corridor proposal that is nearly through the city planning process, would allow a building of 30 FAR with various bonuses.
[...]
To make his dream development happen, Milstein may try to tie up most, if not all, of the 1,224,109 million square feet of transferable development rights (TDRs) held by Andrew Penson through his ownership of Grand Central Terminal.
[...]
While there are leases currently in place, there is roughly 500,000 square feet already vacant and any new tower would take several years to plan and develop.

Quote:
With approved permits in place, Blumenfield Development Group is ready to move forward on their Bjarke Ingels Group-designed mixed-use project at 146 East 125th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues. Initial ground testing has taken place, and a construction fence has been erected along the lot’s northern 126th Street frontage. According to permits filed in December 2014, the upcoming 230,000-square-foot building will contain 40,000 square feet of commercial space and 233 apartments, 20% of which will be designated as affordable.
