Arena Central - 10 storey with Tesco, Subway and Starbucks
I of the Inept - a 55m (one metre shorter than B of the Bang) statue, forever commemorating your city council's ineptitude.

Temple House?

Dunno if it counts as a tower, but it's certainly a big building.

Bugger ******* all, probably, knowing the snail's pace at which Brum is getting its tall building proposals under way.

Arena Central will probably be re-drafted as a new subterranean structure with 39 storeys BENEATH GROUND LEVEL, thus being the UK's first ever MULTI-STOREY UNDERGROUND-SCRAPER - thus the deepest building in Europe with all those floors! It will be so ahead of its time that it would make absolutely NO impression on the Brum skyline and yet make a HUGE impression deep into the city's underlying soil...In fact it would reach so deep underground the potential may exist for brand new rail tunnel links to Birmingham New Street station as there could be space for not one, not two but THREE deep-level underground railway lines: and one of the new stations could well be called Arena Central Deep Level, serving the complex as well as nearby New Street!

Birmingham Predictions 2006-2019

What I predict will be proposed in 2006.

Towers
150m = 1
100m+ = 3 - (2)
80-100m = 2
50-79m = 6
35-49m = 12 - (9)

---------------------------------

January
*110m - Martineau Galleries Tower 1
*40-50m x3 - Martineau Galleries

Why don't you go back to the other 2006 thread which I did about a year ago BrumCulture and get more information down and updates, rather than vague stats? Or has that thread been lost?

I predict that sometime in 2006, a huge 6.66 Richter Scale earthquake will flatten the city centre of Birmingham.....maybe on June the 6th at precisely 06.06.06 BST.

Followed by a few more tornadoes in the King's Heath / Moseley / Balsall Heath area.

My predictions:

*Arena Central masterplan finally unveiled with a 50-storey residential tower with no spire

*Further details on Paradise Circus scheme released

*No news on the Birmingham Needle

*Midland Metro expansion will struggle to gain funding from central government (although I happen to think Brum stands a good chance of getting funding)

*Rotunda reclad begins

*BST tower gets approved subject to alterations

*No news on Rough Diamond scheme

*New Street station refurb begins (?)

*Broadway Middleway (?) 'tower' begins construction

*Spiral tower at City Park Gate (or is it Park Central?) begins construction

*Stephenson tower blows down in fierce winds

*Further details on scheme for Irish Quarter unveiled

*Orion2 approved and begins construction before year is out

*At least 4 towers of 20-storeys+ are revealed

If so, shouldnt be such a bad year.

A plan is drawn up for the ludgate site

The moseley kings heath rail line gets the go ahead

Masshouse towers two and three top out

Warwick bar starts
