The site is nearing readiness for construction now

No pics I'm afraid, but we have a fully blown construction site here now.

Another Tower Crane very soon. Our crane count is starting to go up again and we still have more to come.

Not sure if we'll get a tower crane for phase 1 being only 5 storeys, probably in phase 2 with the 10 storey block.

Some "strange" activity on the site this evening around 8.00 pm, a number of police, a couple of army personnel, and site crew investigating something, maybe an old unexploded bomb or something.
Anyhow after a lot of running around, suddenly the army guys quickly left, followed by the police and everyone packed up for the night??

This scheme is quietly gaining momentum, the last two days have seen some heavy plant arrivals, piling rig, large concrete mixer, mobile crane and increase in the workforce, think we can safely move this to the construction forum now.

Additionally it would appear like preparations are being made to start phase 2 as well. All the cars utilising the old boat repair/maintainence for parking have now been relocated or moved and security is now patrolling the site, I think we may see the start of demolition here not long after the bank holidays.

I know this site is under most peoples radar and a bit off the beaten track, but its less than 2 minutes from Broad Street and Brindleyplace.
These plots have been a eyesore right in the middle of a vast redeveloped residential area around Sherborne Wharf down to the Roundhouse. These 250 odd apartments will unify and populate this area even more. We will hopefully also see Canal Square more popular and the old Loves restaurant unit (now empty) occupied again.

Nope, trawled the local news sites and couldn't find anything,
I can only imagine it was a suspect object or something that turned out to be nothing.
