We have herras security fencing and DSM demolition signage going up around the FGF building folks
Anyone know if the St Chad's Sanctuary site next door to is part of this scheme, that is also surrounded by herras fencing, but signage saying Construction site?

St. Chads Sanctuary isn't part of this development. Don't know whats happening there

The good news coincides with the brochures I recieved this morning. There's also a launch event for this happening next Thursday..

Snow Hill Three is already looming over it from the other side of the road. Cathedrals also need drives and parks surrounding them - I wonder if one could be cheated out of the space there one day when Charles St is inevitably downgraded?
In a way, St Chad's will stand out by its smallness, so it could still be OK. It will be like churches in NYC or London, where they stand out by simply being different to all the buildings around them.

Phase 2 of the development (The Fazeley and The Colmore) will be marketed next month (24th November) after the supposed success of Phase 1 selling well

yep its easy to position a few floating pontoons along that stretch as mooring points - Bristol has loads.

I have been trying to think of a way we can make the stretch of Canal from the Mailbox to Eastside more appealing to tourists for quite a long while. Improved spending on lighting, paving, signage, cctv, emergency buttons will help but just doesn't stop the undesirables and taggers from making parts of the canal from feeling unsafe.

However introducing large sections of the canal to residential moorings and bringing front doors directly on to the canal path would instantly make the area feel safe and welcoming to all. This would need to be stricktly managed to ensure tourists remain engaged to the landscape. But this could be a massive and acheivable plan.

Developments such as Snow Hill Wharf is slowly releasing the potential of what we have and now some of my favourite views of the city centre are from the canal. This is Birmingham history so time to exploit what we have.
