You can see the cranes rising from I-35 NB. It brings back memories of when the Devon Tower first started going vertical. If BOK Park Plaza and the OG&E Energy Center are ever U/C at the same time, cranes will almost double the skyline southward from certain angles.

I thought this might be of interesting to some in the Oklahoma City thread. Looks like bankruptcy is on its way, and a significant reduction in assets and staff.

Chesapeake Energy Craters 40% on Restructuring Report
"The shares dropped 40 percent to $1.83 at 9:45 a.m. in New York, the lowest intraday level since January 2000. Before today, the Oklahoma City-based company had already lost 85 percent of its market value during the previous year. Chesapeake’s bonds also plunged. The fall was triggered by a Debtwire report that Chesapeake retained Kirkland & Ellis to help restructure a $9.8 billion debt load."

Working on the 10 floor at this time on the tower. The north parking garage is almost or should be topped out.

The old Santa Monica Ferris Wheel has found it's new home along the south shore of the Oklahoma River. The wheel is open to the public and has already created an amazing sense of place for what will eventually be a massive, mixed-use neighborhood dubbed the Wheeler District.

OKC's newest attraction along the Oklahoma River is the artificial White Water Rapids Course. In addition to the river already being the designated training site for US Olympic Rowing, the White Water Rapids course hosted the Road to Rio Olympic Tour during it's opening weekend May 7th 2016. The Rapids have opened to rave success and is one of the few facilities that exist like it in the world.

The immediate area also features 3 boathouses, a mountain bike course, a pump-bike course, ziplines, a 7-story ropes course, the country's tallest stainless steel slide along with several other high-octane speed slides, a controlled free-fall drop, children's area, running trails, kayak and row boat rentals, among many other activities. This area continues to provide Oklahoma Citians with a recreational alternative that otherwise would not exist within the Metropolitan area.

701 Hudson - An upscale residential development that is being developed by Brent Swift - who has done a number of remodels in the Oklahoma City/Norman area - and is being designed by Gardner Architects - who also has done a large number of projects in the Oklahoma City area.

^ I love that project. I drive by the site often and can't to see it come to fruition!

Here are preliminary renderings of the new convention center:

I will assume that people in this forum know that Populous is only doing a masterplan study, and that those basic renders are not real plans. It looks pretty cool, but sadly it's never happening. Makes the OKC govt look pretty ignorant, but can't expect much from a place that thinks a street car is a good idea. Hopefully the real architect will design a decent CC.

What should a mid-tier city be doing apart from a street car ? Light rail ain't happening. Heavy rail is even less plausible. Commuter rail ? Orlando is a much larger city and its starter line is poorly patronized and heavily subsidized.

Further, it's not like larger cities are getting convention centers that look quite this swish and whimsical.

Are the buildings earthquake-resistant? I'm just wondering.

From where are you getting that information? As far as I know, Populous is the selected firm.
