I’m 47 and could see myself flogging my semi in Sale buying a gaff like this once the kids have left home. I think there’s probably quite a large market like that, not to mention the foreign investors.

Foreign investors won't be living in them. They will be buying them to sit empty. That's my prediction anyway, and I hope it's true the bubble needs to burst

They will be buying them to rent out, not to sit empty.

Why would anyone put their money into something with the intention of seeing no return. Bonkers

Which is ultimately Scouse_mancs point I think. These will likely be rented out at a premium rate.

I'm just making a prediction, that few people will pay that rate. I earn a fair amount and wouldn't dream of renting one of these - survey of one I know, but there have been articles about this in the past - City centre rents rising £100pm YOY, it's unsustainable.

It doesn’t make sense to forego the rent in properties of this value. These aren’t Mayfair values - where the capital appreciation makes the rental income look like loose change. They’ll be occupied and it may lead to a price correction across the city centre.

2.6million people
Interest rates for mortgages at 2.1-2.5%
Net influx of people
Net influx of jobs

If only 5% of the c1m homes in Manchester can afford a flat.... some scope yet.

Maybe the suburbs will suffer?

I agree I think Apartments like this will also appeal to an older generation, easy to maintain, well situated, on site gym, etc. I have no doubt the developers have this socio-economic group in their sights.

Lots of older people live in the CBDs of places like Toronto and Sydney..I would love to, but put off by the thought of having "24 Hour Party People" as my neighbours.

I would think that being able to afford to but a property like this...most folks would need to work, or be retired with a good pension, and hey...just because people get older doesn't mean they don't want to party also...bring it on !!

I always think of Fraiser and his condo wars with guy upstairs. A few episodes put me off flat living!

I just don't have the energy

It also depends on the quality and design of the build. ^

Some absolute crackers on Manchester Instagram Today.

The fantastic February Weather is obviously giving people an excuse to take pucture’s of DS.

Lots of new buildings going up in this city. It's pretty much a building site. But exciting times nonetheless
