Sorry, but I haven't heard anything about such an old mosque in Vilnius. We had one small wooden mosque that was destroyed during ww2 and, if I remember correctly, nothing more.

Somehow it sounds like you are describing the Great Synagogue of Vilnius that was massive, built from brick in XVI-XVII century and later, during ww2, was burned by nazis and finally fully demolished by soviets.

This thread is gold. Happy I found this... makes me hopeful that we will not die from an architectural apocalypse of ugly glass and steel towers.

Some person from Vilnius said, that there was brick wall mosque. Now l done my research, and yes - there was one mosque that was wooden in Vilnius, Lukiškės district. http://www.gidas.mb.vu.lt/2010/02/26/vilniaus-mecete/

Wow that 2014 shot of Athens! What a friggen mess with all that spray paint! Looks like New York in the 1970s before Mayor Guiliani cleaned it up. I had no idea that Athens looked that bad.

Aside from that cute ruin on a hill, Athens isn't known for its great aesthetics.

Yeh, most people are surprised to learn athens doesnt look much like typical european cities. But personally I love how urban and dense and vibrant the city is even its not that pretty, its sorely lacking in green space though
