Initially it was planned to connect road behind Bhooja to old mumbai highway as shown in this video (at time 5:40)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVbTJ6CeJlI

but this plan doesnt have that. so i thought they arent connecting. (page 11)

can you send pics of the work. the video seems more recent than the pdf. so maybe they are connecting it.

NEW ROADS/ROUTES ARE PLANNED FOR DEVELOPMENT IN HYDERABAD

The tunnel route is coming up at Begumpet Airport. The GHMC has begun working on the road to reduce the distance between Begumpeta-Tadbund. A private agency has recently studied and made proposals for Baltia. The tunnel starts at Begumpet Airport Gate. Going out of the runway and ending at the edge of the campus.

Proposed tunnel length 1.1 km From there it is 1.5 km away from Tadbund Road to the airport. A wide road is constructed. If the path is available, people travelling from Tadbund, Cantonment, Tirumalgiri and other areas can get relief. About 5 km Travel distance will be reduced. Traffic jams can be avoided at crosses. The proposal has been developed as part of a project to be made available for new roadways across the city.

The GHMC also revealed that the study organization has proposed to construct 8 more roadways.

New corridors to ease traffic congestion in city

A surface-cum-tunnel road of 2.5 km between Begumpet Airport and Tadbun to be taken up

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is set to embark on the task of developing new roads on some identified stretches to reduce pressure on the existing roads in the city.

A majority of these roads have been planned in the Serilingampally and Kukatpally zones, which have become traffic nightmares following rapid development over the past couple of decades.

The civic body has identified seven new corridors — Narsingi to Ramachandrapuram; Infotech junction to Madhapur main road; Nacharam junction to Lalapet; Necklace Road to Begumpet; Begumpet airport to Tadbun; Banjara Hills to Kukatpally; and Madhapur to Kaitalapur.

On majority of these stretches, roads already exist to certain extent and the GHMC is planning to cover the remaining stretches to develop the routes as new corridors.

The roads envisaged to be laid add up to a total of 42.4 km, an official informed. The longest stretch among these would be between Narsingi and Tellapur, which would be part of the corridor to be developed between Shaikpet and Ramachandrapuram. “Two road stretches already exist between Shaikpet and Narsingi, and between Tellapur and Ramachandrapuarm respectively. All we have to do is to connect Narsingi with Tellapur so that a full-fledged corridor is available for road users,” said the official.

The distance between Narsingi and Ramachandrapuram is calculated to be 22.3 km, of which 7-8 km is available. Another important stretch is being planned between Begumpet MMTS railway station and Necklace Road, along the railway line. The two-kilometre corridor is to be laid in entirety, to ease the traffic on the Raj Bhavan-Somajiguda road.

The Infotech junction exists before Mindspace junction at Madhapur, from where another corridor of 1.1 km is being planned up to Madhapur main road. Of this, a 600-metre piece is missing, and would be laid anew, said the official.

Of the 1.3-km stretch between Nacharam junction to Lalapet, 800-metre road exists and 500 metre road is to be laid.

On the corridor between Road No.2, Banjara Hills up to IDL Lake Junction, Kukatpally, already road exists in bits and pieces, and the new stretch of 2.5 km is being planned between Borabanda and Kaitalapur. The total corridor is of 8.2 km length.

On the road of 3.3 km between Madhapur and Kaitalapur, only 200 metre bit is missing, which needs to be developed. Also, a road-over-bridge needs to be constructed across the railway track as part of the project.

Another proposal for a surface-cum-tunnel road of 2.5 km between Begumpet Airport and Tadbun would be taken up subject to clearance by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), officials informed.

More roads would be taken up as suggested by the comprehensive traffic study conducted by LEE Associates jointly with the traffic police, as short-term measures to address traffic issues. They include development of 109 km intermediate ring road between Outer and Inner Ring Roads, and radial roads of 128 km, for which the proposals are still on the drawing board, the officials said.

I believe the airport to tadbund road is primarily aimed to detour traffic from the proposed assembly and secretariat at Bison polo grounds?

Today I observed that we have flyovers (Completed / Under Construction) approximately every Km from JNTU to Bio Diversity Junction. Same case from Secunderabad to Banjara hills. I have a question here.

Did the flyovers really aid the traffic or did they just change the choke points?

I feel the way flyovers merge with the existing roads is not scientific which is causing jams at the entry/exit. We always seem to have this concept of multiple lanes merging into 2 or 3 lanes in a very small distance. What is the solution for the choke points?

I think Shahgouse should come up with a 15 floor restaurant building to cater to the needs of the public here. The current one is too small and causing inconvenience to the general public - Sarcastic comment!

The inconvenience they are causing to the public on this road, is absolutely true. And I always see dedicated traffic police with a towing van for Shahgouse customers .
So probably they need to think on those lines, at least for the public & their customer's sake.

Hyderabad: SRDP-1 to be completed by year-end

GHMC to release Rs 600 crore required for various works

Hyderabad: Indicating that there is no dearth of funds for the development of city infrastructure, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Thursday reiterated its commitment to complete projects planned under Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) phase I by the year-end.

To this effect, Rs 600 crore required to complete the works pertaining to different structures under phase I will be released, said GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore.

During a review meeting here on Thursday, the GHMC Commissioner said the civic body had arranged for Rs 3,000 crore under Rupee term loan and these funds would be credited into the GHMC accounts soon after the election code is lifted.

“All the ongoing works pertaining to underpass, flyovers and other structures should be completed by December this year,” he instructed the officials.

Directions were issued to them to set targets for completion of each project and execute the works accordingly. Land acquisition, which is a major challenge for executing SRDP works, should be completed on a war footing, he said.

The officials were asked to conduct special awareness programmes on the benefits of Transferable Development Rights (TDR) to facilitate building and land owners part with their land without any apprehensions.

Amberpet flyover land acquisition works are at an advanced stage. Nearly 280 properties need to be acquired for the construction of 1.60 km flyover at Amberpet of which, 171 building owners have agreed to part with their properties and 175 cheques have also been issued. Already, 129 structures have been demolished, officials said.

Execution gains pace

GHMC is taking up a series of projects in different areas of the city under SRDP and aims to complete them by this year-end.

The State government has launched SRDP as a means to minimise travel time, increase average journey speed and reduce air pollution levels in the city.

Since 2018, seven projects, including three underpasses and four flyovers, have been completed and are operational. Of these, five were launched in 2018 and two early this year.

Similarly, the municipal corporation is taking up projects such as LB Nagar underpass, Biodiversity flyover, Bahadurpura flyover, cable stay bridge at Durgam Cheruvu, and an elevated corridor from OU Colony and Shaikpet to Road No.45, Jubilee Hills.

All these works are being taken up at a brisk pace. The GHMC officials said LB Nagar underpass, Bairamalguda flyover, cable stay bridge and Kamineni RHS flyover would be completed this year.
